I know there's a few guys here who are filming hunts, so post up! I want to know what gear you guys are using and what tips/tricks you may have for us. One thing I've found with filming hunts is that not only is it a lot of work but a lot of the things I've learned have been from forums, word of mouth, etc.

    My basic setup right now:

    Sony HDR-AX2000 camera
Muddy Outdoors camera arm w/Bogan 701HDV head
    Rode NTG-2 shotgun mic
    Sennheiser wireless mic (when needed)

Sony Digital Handycam, Gorilla Tree Arm. Cheapest of the cheap. Doesn't work too bad actually.

We are running a Canon XHA1 with shotgun and Sennheiser mics. We use the Muddy Hunter camera arm and the older version that is smaller from the previous year for tighter set ups. On the camera arm we are using the Manfrotto 701 and 501 model heads along with a Veri-Zoom system (we love this). We also use Canon HF11 and HV30 for second angle and if we are out stomping around shed hunting or hanging stands. We also got a new head/bow/tree mounted HD camera that we are going to play with and are pretty confident will produce some good footage.

    Our Setup

Sony HD CX550v (with manual focus)
3rd Arm Camera Arm? - Still Searching ... suggestions...
Sony WCS-2 Bluetooth Wireless Mic/Shotgun Mic (5.1 surround sound) Hot Shoe

Our old camera is a SD JVC Everio - we may use a wide angle shot? But that is TBD.

I use a Canon GL2 with a Muddy or HunterCam Cradle Pro camera arm. Also the Stealth Varizoom controller. I love the setup so far, but haven't used it much.

I too would love to hear some tips or tricks - I'm new to this game.

I'm not sure I count.... but I've decided to put the camera arm away for now and use the Insane Archery riser mount. I'm just using a Cannon Point and shoot. It just was too much to screw with for me to try and get the camera turned on, filming and pointing in the right direction.

At least I'll have some video even though it won't be the quality you guys will have. I'm going to try this out turkey hunting this spring for the first time.

Just getting out there and filming is better then nothing... at least you captured some of the memory to share with others. I have heard a few things about this "Insane Archery Mount" I will have to check it out.

I'll be filming this year. Im new to it so I got a GL1 to beat up this spring if the bug continues I may upgrade by fall. Cannon GL1, home made camera arm. Lone wolf base with a muddy arm, is what I designed it after.

JVC everio gz-ms110 and a Ameristep tree arm. You can check it out in my sig. Work good for me. Would like to use a mic but I dont know if they work with this camera. I also love the challenge of trying to get the hunt on video.
