I saw the doctor from centivax thinks he created a possible cure. Antibodies that would directly attack the virus. Much more time effective than a vaccine. I hope that genius is right
Just an observation from a guy who has no idea what he's talking about...it seems to me the only way this thing disappears with any sense of speed/quickness is with herd immunity. Most experts claim that requires about a 70-80% infection rate of the population, which, of course, would be devastating even if less than 1% of those die. However, it seems logical that a vaccine will be developed, but will of course need 12-18 months to be tested and approved. No treatments seem to have any solid backing, and while I'm a huge proponent of social distancing and our current shelter in place to flatten the curve, it simply isn't sustainable long term. I'm glad I'm not the one making these decisions, that's for sure.
https://twitter.com/drericding/status/1246376789397602305?s=21 Did anyone in here play the “it’s just the flu” card 1-2 months ago? Be honest. I know I did for a bit. I said I was going to go on my Vegas trip when this all started before the flights were cancelled and everything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I did a month ago. I was posting memes and making fun of it. As a 43-year-old college senior, once they closed school for two weeks, and the NBA canceled their season, I realized how serious this was, and it was real. Since then, I haven't left the house.
Well they did make their brother in law and uncle, Jim Baker, a whole lot of money manufacturing munitions for the all branches of the services. And then let's not forget about Haliburton, KBR and the likes. I will say, Bush Sr. would have handled this better. I base that on his foriegn policy work, he was absolutely brilliant and the reason that Clinton enjoyed 2 terms of relative world peace. Now of course he has been dead but this is merely a hypothetical. But given his past before being VP he was very well connected around the world. Horrible domestic policy may have been his only downfall.
Trump talking out of his ass for the first two months of this was the worst possible start for this situation. The character flaws that we all over looked have come back to bite us. The lack of deference to expert advise and inability to admit ignorance on a subject is inexcusable in a leader during a crisis with multifaceted dire outcomes and repercussions.
I must have missed some of those posts. It seems like the testing issue has been been politicized a little. My biggest concern is the high rate of false negatives . Negative tests give people a false sense of security. I'm hoping I dodged a bullet. Good luck, stay safe out there.
Sorry for the cut and paste. I think it is being used on a limited basis but it has not gained universal acceptance because strong data supporting its use does not exist yet. Surviving Sepsis Campaign: guidelines on the management of critically ill adults with Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Recommendation 49. There is insufficient evidence to issue a recommendation on the use of chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine in critically ill adults with COVID-19.
someone better wake up ,Cuomo is not a Dr. Just who the hell does he think he is shutting down physicians from prescribing this. That you must be hospitalized. I also want to know where these meds being shipped to NYC are going. If health care workers there want to go on it as a safety measure they should be allowed to make that decision. Then you have a county near us whos cases are doubling daily and he has the National guard coming up here to take our ventilators. If you don't know most rather small hospitals upstate are not financially healthy to begin with. They can not just go out and buy a ventilator. Also please look at the maps per county. Our bigger cities up here, have a relative to numbers of positive, a higher death rate than some counties down state. One more thing ..He pushed remington right out of this state. Upstate has that large factory sitting empty . It woukd make a start up for ventilators to be made I would assume relatively easily. THE FEDS. NEED TO KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON CUOMO. Any investigations after this ****e show HAS to begin with him.
OMG he's today talking about containment and how important containment is and it's in the best interest to help NY in in it's containment. HE DID NOTHING TO STOP THE NYS FLEE WEEKS AGO. HE and Deblasio were telling NYC people to go about their daily lifes. When the people saw what was happening they ran , put in mind rats jumping a ship image. I hope he swallows his tongue!
that's false. What experts did he ignore? The WHO? Chinese government-sanctioned statistics? Mr. World Genius Dr. Fauci was poo pooing this right up until mid February. Now he wants to shut down all domestic travel nationwide. And these are the "experts" Trump is supposed to cue every action from? Those of us who weren't dead would have collective whiplash. If anything, Trump was ahead of the curve in -acts- if not words. He limited international air travel. He shut the border with Mexico before they even had 100 confirmed cases. And, it looks as if he was 100% correct in his admittedly early assessment of chloroquine as a very effective treatment - while Mr. World Genius Dr. Fauci downplayed against its reported effectiveness even as he admitted he would prescribe it to a sick patient. Furthermore, at Trump's direction, the FDA has removed regulations which allow near real-time trials of treatments and vaccination experiments. He's also used his War Time Powers to direct certain private industries to make goods which are in shortage. Was the President overly optimistic predicting that we would be back to work by Easter? Sure, but that was before they recognized that many more people are asymptomatic carriers than previously realized and also that it spreads so easily through the air. And the administration course corrected as that information more fully developed. His messaging has been all over, but his acts have been about as spot on as they could have been while attempting to mitigate economic damage. As I said in a much earlier post, he's not really good at explaining things to multiple audiences at the same time. He tries to measure hope and optimism into warnings of stark realities; but in doing so appears all over due to his rambling speaking style. By no means do I think he's been spot on in everything. But he's gotten most of the big things right while still adhering to our system of Federalism. To do much more he would have had to declare martial law.
Crimeny. Maybe it's because those demographics tend to live in very close proximity to each other and also extremely disproportionately suffer from heart disease and diabetes. But never let the facts get in the way of a good social justice screed.
Now that's a good question actually. Cuomo, he is more dangerous than Pelosi at the moment. As I said earlier, I know longer worry about Pelosi. Karma is reaching out for her it won't be long. Just call it instinct.
