That's an entirely separate topic of discussion. It's almost impossible to teach anything without some sort of inherent bias, even if the person teaching it doesn't realize it's there. "Just the facts, please" sounds great on paper, but in reality it's impossible. Using an extreme example - we teach about WWII, the Axis Powers, the Holocaust, etc. In that teaching is a built-in bias that these things were evil and wrong. It's nearly impossible to decouple the two. Until somewhat recently, CNN was viewed as the definitive source of news for the world. So that's not entirely surprising. And while there is plenty of coverage on CNN with significant bias, there are also some well-reported pieces in there. Plugging your ears and pretending it doesn't exist is akin to throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Never debated that. We should all raise our children under what we perceive are the best views. In doing so, we should teach them to listen to all viewpoints, not just the ones we teach them. This goes back to your first point, which is a separate topic of discussion entirely. My post was about an 11-year-old kid throwing a temper tantrum about something his parents brainwashed him into thinking is evil, and then passing it around their social media echo chambers so everyone could give it a thumbs up and virtual high-fives. BTW - how many people here have ever watched a CNN10 segment, or even know what it is?
I just want to get home change into shorts grab a cooler with some beers on the pontoon. Covid will be over by Memorial day.
I watch CNN quite often actually. I find I can better summies the truth when I find both extremes reporting on the same topic then I know that that's an important topic and I have to wade through the $hit to figure out the real deal. That and my daughter was watching CNN at school(l am quite certain I posted about it) in a honors class. I went to see the principal and gave them a ultimatum which they abided by, that as such... Split tv time between CNN and Fox or neither. I don't think you are wrong in this Justin but it sure feels like it's "the right" that always does the compromising and logical approaches to situations. I am actually proud of that, yet I would love to hear a few stories about the left attempting to understand the conservative mind. In Venatione Veritas
Since I honestly believe that the virus was created in China I'll bring this up here What's everyone's thoughts on the Olympics? Lots of very strange turns and events that China benefits from. What lots of examples that China actually shouldn't host again. What do you think In Venatione Veritas
Not paying one bit of attention. I have pretty much given up on any televised sports because of the constant politicizing over the last few years. I was looking forward to Olympic hockey until I found out NHL players are not playing this time around. There is no reason to believe any nation will put forward a Miracle on Ice type team, so , meh. I won't even watch the Superbowl this year if I can keep my kids from remembering it is on. Just so many better things I can do with my time.
They should never host again. They are suppressing people which goes against the Olympic spirit. What a crappy country.
When it came out that a social media platform used emotional bias (anger /fear) to order the contents on the feed, it also became apparent most (national and big city) news messages were emotional appeals... Just give me the facts.
The disinformation age is well upon us. Most important thing a school can teach our kids is critical thinking. To question what they are told is the truth.
Yeah... Schools/colleges/universities really don't seem to be doing that much anymore... Parents need to help on messages like that.
gave up on f-n football when Kaperdick started his crap and the kneeling started, never went back, and I wont ... same for all 'pro' ball sports in general , even with my beloved Cubbies, its been years since Ive watched more than an inning or two .. last few years I watched ZERO, and I LOVE baseball !! I'd rather walk over to the park and watch Babe Ruth or High School Ball ... I played in little league, Babe Ruth, Jr and High School school and then soft ball after grad. for years, played in the USMC leagues .... my shoulder wont let me now, but I can still BOWhunt ...
I am happy that Aaron won the MVP just because of all the people that were pissed off that he did win it.
