Covid cases surging........ can't have anything to do with many thousands of illegals that are untested or unvaccinated being shipped all around our country can it? :(

@cantexian, go take a peek and see the 90+% of the not vaxxed covid patents in the hospital you work at, how many are illegal? Will just start doing our own polling

Looks like Missouri, Arkansas, and Mississippi are hot spots right now.

Yeah, illegals that have been shipped all over couldn't possibly help spread the virus. Smh

I don't have access to those patient areas. Interesting theory, what is the basis for it?

Where are all the Dems claiming Biden is an animal for sending illegals back to their home country? Fact is he is doing it on a scale that dwarfs Trump. But the media doesnt really care.

Here's a prime example of the type of journalism that makes me want to scream.

    https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/22/us/new-york-camp-covid/index.html

The headline reads "Sleepaway camp in New York says 31 campers under age 12 tested positive for Covid-19". However, nowhere in the article does it provide any further information about the status of these kids. How many were asymptomatic and only tested because they were exposed? Did anyone end up in the hospital or seriously ill? I'm going out on a limb and assuming none of them died since that wasn't plastered all over the front page.

If 31 kids tested positive for the flu after going on a ski trip, nobody would bat an eyelash. Yet, here were are. This is front page news on one of the largest news websites in the world.

Along with the report, we get some boilerplate quotes about how our vaccines are super effective, they keep you safe, etc. But, we get no information on the fact that children under 12 are not at any sort of statistical risk for death or adverse health conditions from contracting Covid.

I just heard a quote today on a major website that 350 persons under the age of 18 have died from covid related causes. There are 75 million persons under age 18 in the US.

    .000004667% chance

The data is a little off depending on what stat you look at, but it's all pretty close. One set of data goes up to 18 yo, the other up to 17. Why they don't have consistent age groups is beyond me.

Per the CDC there have been 401 deaths in kids 0-18 years of age. 122 of those have been kids 0-4 years old - so younger than school age. So we've had 279 school-age children (5-18) die from (0r with) C19 since the start of the pandemic.

If you look at the counts for 0-18 instead of 0-17 the numbers are a little different, but largely the same.

How many of those kids had preexisting underlying medical conditions? That is a question that should be answered as well. It is terrible for those kids and the families.

I have stopped looking at cases and look at hospitalizations and deaths. Cases simply don’t matter because we don’t have enough information on the case.

As individuals, you are correct, but when talking about an entire group of people, such as kids, something useful may be learned in looking for common causality.

I doubt that information will ever be made public but yes, it's terrible for sure.

For some context, the 2018/2019 flu season saw 211 deaths of kids 5-17 years old with an estimated 7.6 million symptomatic cases. This is measured over roughly a 5 month period of time from late Oct/early Nov through February.

279 C-19 deaths in the same age group in the last 18 months out of 2.8 million positive cases. We have to assume that there are many more cases that were mildly or asymptomatic that we don't know about.

If you are between the ages of 5-17 in Cook County, you have about a 10,000% better chance of being shot and killed than dying from C-19. That's not even an exaggeration.
