    Agreed

I am taking Trump's line "America First"

I'd rather see the money go to the American workers.

Carnival Corporation is incorporated in Panama.
Royal Caribbean is incorporated in Liberia.
Norwegian Cruise Line is incorporated in Bermuda.

So now it's the cruise bailout, not the pork. A day or two ago it was the corporate stock buyback, not the pork.

FYI bailing cruise industry = pork

So you're fine with billions being spent on non-American companies?

I am not fine with any pork, but I am not going to throw a fit of the low-end American worker getting some cash in these times.

I haven't seen what's being offered to the cruiselines, I know Trump has mentioned it, but he never gave specifics.

If I were laid off for the next 4 months, I would get a tick over $4 an hour raise here in IL. I could even afford the Cobra payments to keep insurance going.

I had a gripe I posted last night about the $600 unemployment bonus, ultimatepy deleted it when I realized it was only 4 months. Yet I know when it comes time for it to end, to pander for the voter they will try their damnedest to get it extended or made permanent. It will be a campaign rallying cry.

Since Pritzker ended requirements or maximum length one could stay on unemployment(gueesing it lasts as long as his emergency declaration), even if a worker is called back to work in the next month and declines, they can stay on unemployment.

I've decided that since I'm not getting a check in the mail I dont really care. The only thing the government is good at is spending money no matter who is in "charge". Am I for the American worker getting money, absolutely. The cruiseline industry, absolutley not. I've listened to friends the last couple of days going back and forth at each other on a group text both blaming the other side of the political spectrum, what a joke. Wake up. While yall argue amongst yourselves nothing gets accomplished. The problem with people is they think that point of an argument these days is about some sorta moral or mental superiority and not resolution or a solution to the problem. Throw in a bunch of falsehoods from social media and the breakdown in society is overwhelmingly evident. Sheep, lemmings whatever you want to call it but if you think either party is loyal to you or has your best interests in mind I have some ocean front property in Arizona I'll sell ya.

Will you choose to work or stay at home? My guess is for you, it will be work. Because most are smart enough to look at the long game like you. Will folks take advantage of it? absolutely, will it cost more than if we bail out non-USA companies like Cruise lines?

Will it cost more? Not sure how much they get if they do. That said, using just the 3.28 million number of unemployed from last week, no new ones for this week or beyond, if 3.28 million people stay on for the full 16 weeks it would cost 12 million shy of 31.5 billion. So yeah, it potentially could.

And yes, I will continue to work or seek a job elsewhere in the event I were laid off(unless it was a 2 week shutdown like has happened in the past), in another state at that point.

I am good with it being it's helping Americans, I would get a tattoo of Trump on my left butt cheek if he told Royal Caribbean to go see Liberia for a bailout.

Then you have this, which will only bolster the "it's just the flu" crowd.

Definitely a lot more testing being done, huge spike. Still only adding numbers, nit sure if the source is doing that or if official tally.

Past 7 day new cases for IL

    19th 136

    20th 163

    21st 168

    22nd 296

    23rd 236

    24th 250, 4 new deaths

    25th 330, 3 new deaths

    26th 673, 7 new deaths

    Total statewide= 2358 with 26 deaths.
