The company I work for bought a machine tool from a manufacturer in Switzerland and I went to their factory as part of the buy off with my buddy who I work with. We were drinking at the local hangout with some of the factory workers and there were some girls out dancing and my buddy went off to dance with them. Before he went on the dance floor one of the factory workers said "check the plumbing" to him and off he went. My buddy and I were the only two in the bar that didn't know that one of girls dancing wasn't a girl and my buddy found out the hard way and was pretty shocked! Apparently this happens quite often in this small town bar in Switzerland, it was pretty harmless and everyone had a good laugh. His face was pretty priceless! Moral of the story, "check the plumbing!"
First confirmed case in the family, Aunt Larua has the COVID. Also 2nd quarter results for my company and we are up 84% YOY.
How's Aunt Laura doing? Any idea how she contracted it? Last night they pulled the plug on kids going back to school in person until at least mid-October. Which simply means they aren't going back this year at all since nothing is going to change between now and then in regards to this virus. All of these "we'll re-evaluate the situation in a couple of months" comments are nothing more than a feeble attempt to placate those who are upset about the decision. Our superintendent spoke about how this affects households with working parents and talked up relationships with the local Boys & Girls clubs, YMCA, etc. Saying that kids will be able to e-learn from these locations when it's not feasible to stay home alone. So apparently the workers at these facilities aren't quite as important as the teachers, and being concerned for the safety of the kids only applies to those with the ability to stay home with their parents. For the rest of you - primarily lower middle class or lower class working folks - too bad, so sad. I'm sure the employees and volunteers at the local Boys & Girls clubs will be studious in upholding social distancing and cleanliness standards to keep everyone safe.
She lives in Tennessee and is doing well. She's an extremely kind-hearted person, truly one of the nicest you'll meet. Looks to be going to a gathering with her friend's house. As for school, I expect the same results here very soon. YMCA and clubs are still "closed" here in Michigan in our zone. My wife's school is ahead of the game as evert kid has a chrome book and been using them for the past 5 years. Internet connections and parents who can't stay home will be issues that need to be tackled. Younger kids are a dilemma but I am not surprised the middle/lower class is getting the short end of the stick.
In other news, I find out if I will be part of the Moderna 30,000 vaccine trial here at Henry Ford in a week or so.
Wow. Hats off to you (if it happens). I'm far from an anti-vaxer, but speaking with my wife about this (pharmacist), I'm leary of how much this has been fast tracked.
Most of our local schools are planning to meet in person. Mine as well as most of the schools are going to offer parents the option to do full online, hybrid, or 100% in person. Of course our district hasn't detailed their plan as to how that's going to look but that's the plan nonetheless. Our county averages between zero and three cases per day.
Our schools are shut down until at least mid October. Luckily my youngest will be 12 in a few days, so we dont have any little guys running around anymore. It's going go be all online for the first quarter which is boring for the kids. Oh well we have to roll with the punches. That being said, 60% of people are not complying with the rules in place. This means that nothing we do is gonna make a damn bit of difference.
Looks like Governor Gretchen is tightening restrictions in Michigan. That gets me out of a wedding this weekend but hopefully it won’t mess up my Traverse City trip in a few weeks.
Ohio Board of Pharmacy really going all out prohibiting pharmacies from selling or dispensing hydroxychloriquine for Covid treatment, unless their director approves it. https://www.wtrf.com/top-stories/oh...e-of-hydroxychloroquine-to-treat-coronavirus/
Can't wait wife has to go back to school no matter the status. Good to get to spend quality time at 5 am before she heads to work.
So some noise from teachers in the city/county schools in our are: *that we can't go back to school - too much risk and *we can't do remote, because Johnny and Susie Unknown students may not have a router or connectivity. Pick one or the other... And if the last one is true, why didn't this come up in March? But how bout some recommendations instead of bitching...
