You're too smart for that... And if you're paying taxes already, could argue you are paying for services you don't use. School taxes are also a local, not fed tax paid not entirely through withholdings (states do comp counties/muni schools, and do get some fed monies, but...still US taxes are not VAT or consumation based, ).

However, hear me out (and I realize this likely couldn't occur)... But

What if online Ed was effective and quantifiable (testing)? Ignore all the capital in buildings, busse and such. And salaries and suppliers...

    few things to unpack here

    • you're 100% correct that the online schooling was and is a joke
    • As a DINK, I 1000% agree if we don't use public schools I should not have to fund them :)
      • This actually falls under the "public good" theory which I actually get although I reserve the right to piss and moan about it
    • To your last; you are 100% correct on all of that except for the X factor in the name of one Donald J. Trump- he and his proxies have already hinted at it. Congress has the power to tax; that much is true- but the Executive branch's prosecutorial discretion to enforce the collection of said taxes is now sacrosanct vis a vis the DACA SCOTUS decision. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

All Daddy Trump has to do is issue an EO that reads something along the lines of "...using my powers as Chief Executive of the United States, and out of extreme concern for the security and continuity of the Nation's economy; I hereby direct the United States Treasury to temporarily suspend the collection of all payroll taxes, for the duration of the Public Health Emergency posed by the Chinese Wuhan Kungfurona Virus."

One of 2 things happen- either miraculously Covid-19 goes away; or Pelosi and Co. have collective strokes. We win either way.

"Why are you opposed to tax breaks for working Americans, Nancy? Why do you hate taxpayers?"

they've been at least partially unfunded since 1998. Be better to go "unfunded" for the last quarter of the FY than crash the economy forever.

And they could do it in concert with other measures...a one-time amnesty to re-home capital. Offer corporations a 3% penalty on all funds transferred/deposited into US-based bank accounts, all kinds of things. Watch how fast the economy booms on that one.

If I thought the Little Rock School district was competent enough to create a viable education model online, I would fully support it (but do not tell my wife, she likes the break when the kids go to school). Unfortunately, they proved this past school year that they are not that competent.

You could really argue, unfunded since the USD became a fiat currency... Gold standard suspended 1933, silver standard 1964...

We had all sorts of 'fun' with City/County schools. My wife, though well intentioned, wanted to home school, but I put the kabosh on it as she gets overwhelmed and we had 5 kids. We did research and then committed to charter schools...

    Though this before C-19.

Whoever has $ when financial services (FS) doesn't.

I've had delivery or strategy projects in pharma, govt, health care and consumer products. E.g. Sold work in others.

32 years working in some flavor of IT, but of the last 25 years 85% has been FS (banking, brokerage, asset management, cap mkts, reinsurance, credit card).

Believe whatever makes you feel better, having 75% or higher herd immunity terrifies me, great I hope it’s less.

well, when the CDC is estimating that at least 40% of cases are symptomatic (and many studies show 60-70%) ; it's really only a matter of time before we hit that mark. A relatively short matter of time.

First graduated with a double major in Bus and fine art. Works at an investment company (RIA, series 7 and working on his series 66).

Two is a teacher and now mother.

Three graduated in 3.5 yrs Bio magna cum laude. On his way to grad school to be a physician assistant, but getting clinical hrs in the ICU after working in a neutral rehab facility for a year.

Number 4 Jr in college on his way in engineering.

Number 5 unsure how she wants to leverage her love of history. I suspect she may go poli-sci. Was accepted at GW, but opted for NC State as she had a better financial package.

They seem to be doing fine...
