Gyms should be fine if folks use common sense. Bars are the issue, one bar and 50+ cases in East Lansing bar. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So, I was exposed to the virus and had to go get tested. The test is not the most pleasant thing I have ever done and hope not to do it again. After two days of staying home and waiting I got the confirmation that I tested negative last evening by email. It was a very long two days wondering how things would turn out. I would like to think that covid would not make me terribly ill, but you just never know with this stuff.
I’m over all of it. Sick and tired and done with it. Last 2 weeks I’ve been in 2 bars that had 100+ people shoulder to shoulder that had 1 person wearing a mask. We live in the sticks. People are not afraid of it like they are in the cities. I still don’t know anyone personally who has had it. If you’re sick, stay home. If you’re worried about getting sick, stay home. If you need to leave the house but are worried about it, wear your mask. Let the rest of us live our lives and don’t attack us for not following “your” rules. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Round 2. If recent CDC stats are correct and over 20 million have had it; it's still not much if any more deadly than a bad flu season. Of the 4 people I know for sure had it; 2 were asymptomatic, one was sick as hell with flu-type stuff but not hospitalized, and the other was hospitalized for 2-3 weeks and is apparently still suffering some effects now almost 2 months later. ...Doesn't mean I want to get it though.
Why do you think that is? Just drunks doing dumb stuff? I go to a gym; I promise I am spreading more fluids and air than at a bar. At a bar I am having a few drinks, taking a couple leaks, and that's it. Granted I am in my 40s and not looking for Ms. NoodlesRightNow, but still. Is it the close-quarters talking that is so dangerous? When I am at the gym, I am sweating like a pig, breathing hard, wiping my face, touching exercise equipment that other people have also touched, etc. I would think being at a gym would be at least as dangerous as being at a bar.
I would agree with this if you're in close proximity to other people for an extended period of time at the gym. So far it's been a ghost town and everyone is wiping down equipment like it's their job. Everyone is staying as far apart as they reasonably can. I'll bet I wasn't within 15 feet of another person for more than a couple seconds this morning. So long as people are smart about what they're doing, I think we'll be fine. I have to believe the issue with bars is a large number of people in a small space for many hours - most likely getting dumber the longer they're there. On a side note, my antibody test was negative. No Rona for me yet.
The person who was hospitalized - how old and what sort of additional health issues did they have that you know of?
black female, mid-40s. I don't know of any underlying conditions; she was in pretty good shape and appeared to be in good health. She is still having some muscle/joint pain and shortness of breath. She did get pneumonia which is what caused her hospitalization.
This is going to be the best hunting season ever, dead deer or not. I'm going to start each hunt off with a ritualistic chant of ...."Covid covid go away, please don't ever come this way.....im not racist can't you see, I'm wearing camouflage in this tree". I will repeat it 100 times to clear my mind.
The issue is I can wear a mask and still get it, it’s the person who has it that needs the mask. I just don’t get it, and this is not directed at you Mnhunter. With all the pro-lifers in this country getting folks to wear a mask to save lives would be easy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well much to my delight, my test came back negative. So I've got that going for me. I've been diligent in wearing my mask and using cheap sandwich bags in leu of gloves. Oklahoma is trying to not be outdone by Texas once again, so our new daily case numbers are climbing at a good clip.
Slime. For all you young parents out there, take it from me, please dissuade your children from making slime, buying slime, and even thinking of slime. Your carpets and drywall will love you.
