Yeah, so Oklahoma is going into phase 2 reopening on Friday. I've decided that I will go grocery shopping and restock the already full pantry on Thursday, the 14th and we are not heading back out to encounter the crowds until June 1st. May be a little overkill but it should be interesting to see if there is a spike. I've also decided to make career change, maybe. I've said that a couple of times and then we get a big ol hailstorm..
Still going at it? Hopefully we will be fully open in a couple weeks here in OH. God bless America. Stay safe guys.
30 days and 2300 posts later; and still nobody here (or at least any regulars) admitted/confirmed infected. Thank God.
Been lurking this thread, daughter had an antibody test 3 weeks ago, negative. Myself, wife and daughter had symptoms February-early March after contact with close relative that traveled to Asia in late January.
The "National Strategy" is Federalism; augmented with federal material support, the free market, and balanced by civil liberties. We are fifty sovereign states in a Union, each with our own set of laws and needs. Short of declaring national marital law, there is not much else the Federal government can or arguably should do. Unfortunately; nobody has been taught civics in public school for 3 generations now and doesn't understand how our system of government is constructed. What works and is needed in North Dakota does not necessarily work for nor is needed by New Jersey; and vice versa. It is the responsibility of each state to plan and manage emergency response. Each state has unique needs, issues, and responsibility to its respective residents that only those state governors and local-level authorities can anticipate, assess and address. It is their job to figure out what they need, asses their own ability to provide, and then ask the Federal government for funding and logistical/material support to fill those gaps. In a national-level emergency, it is the responsibility of the Federal government to provide that support (as requested by the Governors) when and where it can, and to coerce (via carrot or if need be stick) the private sector at large to produce any supplies needed. The role of the federal government is to provide for the common defense, guard our national borders, protect our constitutional rights, and regulate international trade and promote interstate commerce. That's it. It's not designed by statute or structure to do anything else; which is why the federal government sucks so freaking bad at literally everything else. That's by DESIGN. Unfortunately, it's now demanded to and expected by an inordinate number of ignoramuses to do everything. When people and institutions try to do everything they end up doing nothing. It's why progressives are so inherently unhappy- they expect too much of others and so little of themselves. This unrealistic expectation multiplies exponentially as the body of people increases. It seems yours (and others) main complaints regarding our "national response" is not really a personal indictment of O-M-B; but rather Federalism as an institution. Happy to have that debate. But the dissolution of that system of government will result in the breakup of the Republic.
Perfect and I understand that having a national strategy does not infringe on states' rights. It's a strategy, not a national mandate. Unless you want to omit all responsibility for when it goes bad, but we know Trump is a businessman and takes responsibility for his mistakes, I almost got that out without laughing while I typed.
I didn't create the thread and don't make the rules; but I would say yes. Assuming it's an accurate test (big assumption) and/or it's antibody positive *and* you know you were exposed to someone who has been diagnosed. I was directly exposed to someone who was hospitalized and later diagnosed presumptive positive. I didn't have any real symptoms of any illness afterwards other than the runs for a couple days, which may or may not have been caused by a whiskey binge. But a couple of my guys did get pretty sick with C19-type upper respiratory deals after Patient 0. None of them got tested though as it was in mid-late February and testing was not widely available and we were all told by Mr. World Genius Dr. Fauci "it wasn't here yet" (which we now know was BS.) Not planning on getting tested myself based on that exposure until/unless they come out with a readily available, reliable, and convenient test. By now the antibodies would probably be so low as to not show up anyway. If I have another close call I may change my tune.
I am still going with myself as the front runner as far as this thread is concerned. I received notice yesterday that I can expect to be doing the day camp gig three days per week until the end of July. We already know that at least one parent of kids that have been there has been confirmed to have the virus within the last two weeks. HIPPA laws prevent any further specificity from being shared since minors are involved. So I cannot say for sure I have had direct contact but then there are all the other kids and workers there that have. Here's to hoping everyone in my family stays asymptomatic or mildly sick.
...so the strategy has been to invent, run trials, mass produce, and distribute a test for a virus that didn't exist on this planet prior to November 2019; identify transmission modalities, create transmission prevention plans, implement wholesale social behavioral restrictions, shut down an international free market economy, research, and conduct trials of therapeutic pharmaceutical treatments; insource (as opposed to outsource) the means and production of materials and supplies; and invent and test vaccine candidates- all in the face of opposition of 'experts' from business, a free society, "medical organizations" (including the WHO,) and the full weight of the Chinese government and propaganda machine. And with O-M-B at the helm, allll of that was "accomplished" in the span of 3 months; but we don't have a national strategy. Got it. For his next trick, he better be able to turn water to wine. If he can't accompllish that, well hell, I'm done with his worthless Orange ass.
Guy that works for me who got tested after being a bit Covidy last week came back negative... So that's nice

Did you watch the response? The only one I found where a person was not holding the phone, my big beef is what you just did. Give half the story that fits someone's narrow view. Look at it all and show the entire exchange.
