I was wondering how many of you have a beard? What are your reasons for having one? This is going to be my first real attempt at growing a beard. I have always wanted one because my father always had one.
Started as a hunting beard for the 9 day WI gun season. Then the month of Nov. Then all bow season. Last couple years it was bow opener to fishing opener. This summer, I never shaved it off. Partially because I hate shaving, and partially because I've grown accustomed to it.
Honestly......its an alpha male thing mixed with I think I shouldve been born in the 1800s and I welcome the budens and weight of manhood.:D Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
Too hot for one now, but I had one the entire hunting season last year. I think it makes great natural face camo and also a little extra insulation during the cold weather. I have mostly gray hair which I think blends in well with the tree trunks too. You going for the close beard or the Duck Commander look? Once you get use to it, they're hard to part with sometimes...
I have had a mustache since I was in High school. I’ve sported a goat for the last 20 years and full beards on and off as the mood struck me. I keep the hair on top of my head very short so a full bushy, lumberjack beard looks odd when your hair is only a ¼ inch long. I have seen some very poor attempts at beards by guys I know. I guess some people cant grow a proper beard (who knew).
I've had a mustache for around 10 years now. I added the goatee about 3 years ago. Just like the look. Plus there is less I have to shave.
Grew the 'stache close to 40 years ago and added the beard when I retired from the military because I could. Had someplace between full and goat since then.
Beards make you look older and grizzly. So if you are young they are not too bad of a liability. Young here having the meaning of 20s thru 40s. They also itch, especially in the summer heat. Somewhere in your 40s and 50s your beard will start to turn gray, and that will make you look a lot older. So if your circumstances warrant an older patriarchal look, such as a judge or college professor, or if you are really young and lacking credibility in your appearance, than a beard is the right ticket. When I am hunting in the field I won't shave because there is no need to. It is always amazing to me how much more gray my beard gets every year.
I grow a stache/beard during hunting season. I hate shaving and it frees up a few extra minutes in the morning. It makes its annual departure a few months after the season ends, once I have taken enough, uh, feedback from my wife ('Its too prickly'). During hunting season, I'm gone before she wakes up, gone most of the day, so that threshold just never seems to be reached...
I usually have a beard year round. It actually acts as an insulator cool In the summer and warm in the winter. I shaved it off at one point during duck season last year.....I won't do that again.
I look like white trash when I attempt the beard. I usually do one every deer season, but it never lasts long. I can't rock it well enough. Plus, I am in leadership/upper management at work and having a scrappy beard is not very becoming. My wife digs the stubble look, but that is the extent of it. Sal
Got tired of shaving everyday in the Army, all the men in my family had one or some kind of facial hair at least and so I let it grow. Now I have had it so long that it would be weird if I shaved it off, my kids probably wouldn't even recognize me.
You should let it grow. The screen name "scrappycrappy" has a nice ring to it... :D I've never grown a beard. I've never made it past the first week or two without the itching driving me right to my razor.
I always grow one then shave it and grow another one. I'm really not sure why i do that But it all started for each season Sent from my LG-E739 using Tapatalk 2
