Awesome thank you so much who have posted! Really hoping/thinking I can make this happen. Thinking of taking a few days, driving out slowly and checking some things out on the way, spending a day in Jackson, maybe a few in Yellowstone, then maybe going to NV to see the dam and fly home from there or something. Still not positive, but between here and talking to a friend, that sounds like it could be a darn good trip. Really just getting out and seeing more of this great country makes me happy!! Keep the ideas coming though if any more come to mind!! Thanks again guys!
As stated earlier, going in late May can be iffy with roads being open if they have a lot of snow. Roads don't generally open until late April or early May. The road from the north entrance to the northeast entrance is open year around but doesn't take you through much of the park. You might consider a winter trip to Jackson Hole as there are lots of cool things to do in the spring/winter, including sled dog rides (different length rides through beautiful country), skiing (down hill and cross country), snow shoeing , touring the elk winter range and snow machine trips into the park. Just another option given your deadline for using your vacation time.
I do appreciate the ideas. Unfortunately Im kinda stuck with end of May I think. Maybe into the first week of June but not sure I can do that or not. I need the extra time to save a few pennies for the trip, so need to stretch it as late as possible. I think I will be ok. There is so much to see I think we should be able to make a good trip out of it either way. Dog sled trips do sound awesome though! Need to find a way to do that sometime.
