FWIW, i dont have a credit card, but my credit score is in the 760's just because of student loans/truck payments.

Honestly I've never given this a thought. I paid off my school loans before I hit 30. I never carried CC debt. I dont remember exact years but somewhere in the 05-09 range I was debt free except for my mortgage. I'd paid off my truck and didnt buy a new car for quite some time. Right now I have about 15 months left on my truck, a house and a land payment that both have 10-12 years left. But all three of those added up arent a whole lot.

We only have our mortgage and school loans. It wouldn't be possible to have our jobs without our degrees (2 bachelors and a masters) but paying almost $700/month in school loans sucks. They'll finally be paid off in 5yrs. My wife and I are both 30, we have a 8 month old daughter.

You guys that are in your twenties and are already paying a mortgage are doing it smart. I'm 31 and haven't bought a house yet, every month I think about the thousands I have thrown away renting places.

I'm only 23 and got tired of paying rent the last 2 years and am currently unpacking my belongings into my first home! It's exciting!

My student loan had over 8% interest. :( (because my azzhat stepdad made too much money for me to qualify for a regular student loan or grants.. I should have accepted the ride to West Point) I know that's not normal but I wanted to bellyache about it anyway.

At 50+, the wife and I will be morgage free in August on our first home, we also have a second home that we purchased as an investment(which is paid for), but decided to have it remodeled and will become our primary residence and our first home will be sold. When we had 4 kids at home we needed all that space, now its just the wife and I, so we are downsizing and planning on retiring in a few years, or at least slow down some, no more overtime for me thank you!!!

I'm 22 and will graduate with a bachelors degree in biology next semester. I didn't have any help from my parents, so the student loans will get pretty heavy.

We have one car payment. Student loans are all paid for. We don't have a mortgage yet though"hoping to move to CO an buy in another year or so. We are both fortunate enough to have great jobs that allowed us OT to pay for everything.

I have never been in debt. Mainly because I am 18 and have never bought anything expensive enough to go in debt for.

Internships are the way to go if experience is required. Of course there are some professions that only expensive schools teach but most professions can be learned at an inexpensive college.
