Yesterday afternoon i made my first bow hunt. Right before dark the mosquitoes got so bad i couldnt stand them. hadnt seen a deer, had a bout 5 minutes left till dark. So i got fed up and packed up. I looked around there was nothing around. Lowered my bow to the ground look up to grab my backpack and what do you know, a 6 point is looking straight at me, 20 yards perfect broadside shot. Popped up outa nowhere! Stared at me for awhile then took off. Cant wait to hit the woods tomorow afternoon! Guess this is why they call it hunting and not shooting. Personally i rather bowhunt since it seems as more of a challenge. Anyone else has bad luck like me?

I think that's happened to most. Made the day worth it though, I'm sure.

Those are the things that keep us coming back to the woods after a tough day. Get back after him!

yesterday morning I decided to get out of my stand and set up my decoy at 830 am. I get it put together and go to step around a tree and a real nice 9 pt is standing about 50yards away just staring at me. Needless to say,I should have kept my but in place. It sure is exciting though.

Dude, this evening (around 1430) i was checking a scrape and getting ready to move my blind when BOOM! I spooked the **** out of the buck i have been patterning. he came out of nowhere. due to the nasty thick underbrush i never saw him but i came within 15 yards.

ive been getting embarrassed by 4 doe lately too. they seem to be messing with me....

Why would you NOT have the phone on vibrate? Details, it's all about the details.

Happen to me this weekend. I took my cousin on a youth hunt and as we were packing up a spike came out. Lucky we got back in the blind with out home seeing up. It's what I love about hunting

I think it's fair to say that if it hasn't happened to all of us it will. That's why they call it bowHUNTING not bowKILLING. The highs and lows are what keeps us coming back for more. I've been at it for 45 years and still bumble it sometimes. Like yesterday, I had a nice doe walk right into my shooting lane. Not seeing or hearing anything else I took the doe. If I had waited less than 5 minutes I would have had a nice 8 pt finish walking right where she was. I didn't even know he was right behind me.

I doubt there is a long time hunter here who has not experienced this. It happens more often I bet than any of us realize. A deer sneaks in the last few minutes of light while we have decided to pack it up, that same deer moves out and we never notice. Hmmm.........rear view mirrors on the tree?)))))

Well it aint happened to me but I'm sure I got my day coming.....The only moments I worry about is getting up on stand and getting down. I'm sure we all take that chance when we wind up the day or mid morning...

Get a Therma cell. You will not regret it. I hate early in the season when the flys, mosquitos, and gnats are out. I have found a thermacell will work on the flys and mosquitos, but does nothing for the gnats. I hate the little bastards.
