I guess Wisconsin just changed the law that it is illegal now also in the CWD zones to shoot an albino buck

Caleb, the law went into effect for the 2014 season so if he would have made it through this gun season he would have been off limits. Scoot

I was always under the impression that it is not a gene or a genetic defect that can be passed down, simply just a lack in pigment which makes them albino. Yet it is rare and beautiful it doesn't necessarily mean they will produce offspring that are albinos as well or pass down the "albino gene"

It's ridiculous that wisconsin protects these deer it's not a gene you want to be passed on.

The biggest thing that bites me about it is the fact that deer was way too young to take out. If albino-ism isn't passed through genetics then why the hell would they need to be culled out? There's nothing wrong with letting that deer mature and pass on genes it may even be sterile. Might as well be let to express it's full potential...the guy that shot that deer is a punk, plain and simple.

Whoa...how do you figure? A guy shot a deer...end of story. I wish the shooter would have been Scoot 4 years from now, but hey, deer is deer.

I can't really say if I would or wouldn't shoot one until I was in that situation. Things like this are always a possibility anytime you let someone hunt your land. It is important to cover situations like this in detail so these things don't happen but if the hunter was never told you can't blame him for shooting him. The real sad part in all of this is that nothing was done with the deer.

I don't care that it was albino, the deer was way too young to shoot...it wouldn't even have been legal to take here in MO due to antler point restrictions.

Just out of curiosity what dI'd you mean by saying he did nothing with it?

As far as shooting it, yea that sucks but just one of them things. Not everyone is gonna hunt the way you or bunch of neighbors agree to hunt. Its part of it, we can't shoot them but if given the chance and could I'd probably shoot one. Definitely sucks though woulda been a cool mount.

If it's legal then who cares? Not everyone hunts for mature deer only. Shoot, I kill just about any antlerless deer I see if I have a tag. Unless it's the rut and I still have my buck tagm
