Whitetail whackers is good with me.... wow 7 bucks in one year is crazy shane. I just hunt Illinois so 2 is as many as I can kill. I normally wait for something in the 130 inch range so Its a pretty good challenge to shoot 2 that size in a season with a bow...... I can tell you are fairly young shane and I'd like to say that is a pretty impressive collection of bucks for your age. Congrats on such a good year last year.
Thank you Sean. Much appreciated. Last year was my first season of full on bow hunting. I put more time on stand than most adults and last year it happened to pay off. I made a ton of mistakes last year too. But my goal is to learn as much as I can each season, and use that knowledge the following season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The way I see it we should pretty much have this contest in the bag. I mean two BHOD guys on our team. You know they should at least bring in 200pts apiece.
That's a good way to learn... I've been hunting 15 years and I do a lot of research and reading about hunting as well. If you ever have any questions feel free to ask shane.
If I do what I I've done in the past 3 out of 4 years I should put up around 185 points. We definitely have a shot at this. Good luck to everyone.
Went to my spot in Kentucky yesterday to hang a couple stands, had two does come 15 yds away to watch the fun haha Sent from my LG-D500 using Tapatalk
Well I will be honest, I hope I at least put up 100 points. Not trying to put a small goal for me to reach it but putting up a realistic one. This season could go either way, either a lot more points or even under. Nontheless, I will do my best gents to get some deer down. I am well prepared already for when the shot comes, so all I have now is to prepare to get myself that shot. I am ready to be in my lone wolf chasing a nice one!
Boom there it is...considering I'll likely only hunt WI I'll have to shoot the highest scoring buck possible! Maybe I'll get luck early season and score on a biggen!
What ever the first buck you kill gross scores and the next deer you shoot doe or buck you will get 50 points.... so if you shoot a 120 inch buck opening day and a month later you shoot a 150 inch buck. You'll get 120 points plus only 50 points for the 150 inch buck.
I've been fortunate enough to take respectful bucks the last 3 years. I know how it goes out there especially when you hunt mostly public ground. So I'll just say I should be good for 100pts anyways. Those 3 were in the 130" area. That seems to be what the area holds the most of but we have seen a few bigger ones through the years. I'd like to hold out for a 140 or better but if one of those 130s come by I may overreact and shoot. I hunt in the woods and I usually don't have much time to judge the rack real good. That's what happened last year. The buck was coming straight from behind me off to my right side like only 3 steps from my tree. He was already 20 yards and closing fast when I first noticed him. I had to grab my bow, stand and get him stopped to get the shot. It happened so fast. I thought I had shot my biggest buck to date. I was sending out texts "Big Buck Down"! LMAO! When I got to him he shrunk a little. What a rush! I'd be more than happy to do that all over again this year.
