Kinda all of the above. I have a pair of Dream Season boots I wear in the early season.(Not much insulation) I have a pair of leather boots with 800 grams for later when it's colder. I have a pair of Lacross 1600 gram pack style boots for really cold weather.
I fall in the all of the above category as well. I, too, have a pair of Dream Season for early season. When it gets cooler, I just bought a pair of 3.5mm AlphaSport. Then when it gets cold, 1000gr. Thinsulate leather.
Unisulated rubber for early season, 900 gr pack boots for cold weather, my mickey mouse boots for extreme cold.
I wear Danner Mtn. Lite's (leather hiking boots) in the early season. A pair of leather 400 gram insulated for colder. Knee-high Mucks to get accross creeks (if needed), and a pair of Sask. Super Swamper 2,500 gram monsters when it's friggen freezing....
i bought some closeout wolverines at bps last season... gore-tex and 400g insulation... only paid 35 bucks for 'em, can't go wrong there... they are comfy, light and plenty warm enough for where i hunt...
Leather Danners. I broke my only one bone in my life,an ankle, and it was 2 years ago in a pair of rubber boots. Never again. I just had the best year of life hunting in leather and they offer ankle support.
Short distances when hunting behind my house - rubber The other 95% of the time it is leather Danners
600 gram synthetic Rocky's when I'm hiking a LONG ways in without crossing any water, and 800 gram Alpha Burleys the rest of the time. The Alpha Burleys are what I wear 99.9% of the time, I just vary my socks depending on how warm.
