Why does a deer when you shoot one will go out into a pond or creek or stream and die? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Any time an animal has internal bleeding, it will feel like there belly is on fire from the pooling of hot blood & they will go to water to cool off. Then usually die while standing in the water.
A buddy and I were hunting along an inlet to the Chesapeake bay one early November evening. I caught up to him shortly before dark. He was still in his tree. He had shot a buck. We started looking for it, and heard a ruckus near the water's edge. We got there just as the 9pt buck stumbled into the water, and died. We watched helplessly as it drifted away from shore. It wasn't my buck. I wasn't going into that cold water. He stripped down to his pants and swam about 25 yd to the deer and grabbed it. Then stood up..in waste deep water. I about died laughing. But he got his buck.
