apples work well. I like scrapping one on a tree to really get the scent established. otherwise corn, buck jam and my brother in law swears on these new mineral licks called cornholers. Its a mineral lick that looks like a giant screw that you just screw into a cleared area. the deer will lick the top end that is still above ground while the part "screwed" into the ground releases mineral into the soil which deer will dig up and eat once the lick is gone. Ive never used it but he seems to like them.
