I do agree with this. However, I have done a ton of experimenting with my setup the last couple of years. I switched to a spot hogg double pin movable site and was working on perfecting a setup that I could use my top pin, set around 25 yards and cover anything from 20-30 without touching the wheel. The bottom pin fell at around 37 yards and covered anything from 30-40 yards pretty reasonably. My setup is 29" draw, 60lbs and a 440 grain arrow shooting 270fps. I played with arrow weight and reduced my point weight by 40 grains while experimenting and I could get closer to 280fps that way. What I found was that there was no real difference in arrow drop between the two arrow weights from 20-40 yards. If you keep your shots to 40 yards and under, speed isn't nearly that big of a factor. So I chose to stay with the heavier weight arrow setup and tuned/setup for the most forgiveness I could get out of it. I like the simplicity of this as my top pin is a no brainer for anything 30 yards and in. I'm 2" high at 20 and 2.5" low at 30. The bottom pin is similar.
I had to double check because I didn't remember posting this- and while I didn't, I could have. Same equipment and results except I'm pulling 67#.
For the op. Over the years I've picked up several dozen cx mayhem sds (10.3 gpi,.204) shafts with half outs on eBay...I'm these were close outs but at <45 doz. Even with 4 aae stealth hunter vanes km under $60/doz. A 125 gr fp or bh on my 28" shafts has me over 500gr. I'm under @Rick James speed, from my 60" elite synergy, but they pack a wallop. So can you get performance on budget? You betcha. Gold tips would work too. I like the Black eagles or victories...just harder to find at a budget price.
