Should I trade my wife's whisker biscuit out for a drop away like I did on mine? I did not have good luck with mine, but she's not a real hardcore hunter.

Just my opinion. WB are junk. There is no reason not to have a drop away. Get a full containment. Increases speed, accuracy, consistency, and you don't need to re-fletch your arrows "all the time:)" not to mention when increase accuracy and consistency you'll increase you confidence.

    I don't agree with this.

I used a whisker biscuit several season before switching to a drop away. I had no real reason to switch to a drop away other than it being the newest greatest thing...which they are undoubtedly. BUT I had a lot of success with the whisker biscuit. I've had more robin hoods with a whisker biscuit than I do with a drop away.

Never had to refletch arrows either from the WB. I shot blazers and they never crinkled or came unfletched. I think the whisker biscuit is still a good rest. The hostage rest is a great upgrade to the WB, IMO. I have one on my backup bow.

I disagree. For someone just starting to shoot, a WB is arguably the best rest on the market. WB do have a reputation for taring fletchings, but if you switch to blazer vanes, WB doesn't matter. And there are several people that believe (I'm not saying I'm one of them) that WB are just as accurate as any rest.

I've found the whisker biscuit vs. drop away debate to be a personal preference. For every one person that says they will never use them, you will find another one person that will only use them.

I wouldn't "hunt" with anything else. If you have a WB set up properly it's the most reliable, fool proof hunting rest out there. I believe that much of what folks hear about regarding vane/fletching wear/tearing is a result of not having the cock vane up. It's gotta be up. Also, that wavyness that vanes can get after being shot enough times doesn't hurt accuracy. Those vanes flutter during flight big time anyway.

I like this debate, but I had a sweet buck come in on me a few years back in early November here in WI and when I pulled back on him my whisker biscuit made an awful sound...needless to say but went home empty handed instead of with a wall hanger. Therefore, I quickly switched out and sent WB an awful e-mail...they should really test these in frigid temperatures, IMO.

Whiskers are great for hunting... Spray a little silicon on them to make them WAY quieter. This also helps with the friction created on the vanes. A little silicon sprayed on the vanes doesn't hurt either. Don't use silicon grease! As far as accuracy... the slight edge probably goes to the drop aways. For huning situations, I'll trade the 1/2 inch accuracy difference for always being ready to shoot... any day. Shoot what you shoot well and stop second guessing your set-up. Just my thoughts

When I bought my bow on ebay, I also bought a drop away rest. However, when trying to get it set up, I couldn't set it up for straight arrow flight. It had to be so far inside that the drop away would hit the bow and not drop all the way. I figured I must be doing something wrong on set up, so took it to Gander Mountain. They also came to the same conclusion I had, without me saying a word about the problem. I simply asked them to set it up, but they weren't able to do so. I ended up with a whisker biscuit and haven't had any problems with it. The WB is set as far to the inside as it will go. Papertuned the bow and the arrows are flying straight.

Anybody want to buy a NAP Quicktune 2100 drop away? I'll sell it for $30 and I'll pay shipping if you're in the lower 48 states.

1 reason not to use a drop away. Mechanical failure.

Leave the WB on hers and get one yourself. IMO

I'd never go back to any type of drop away.

went from a two prong rest to the WB and will not shoot anything else. May upgrade to the Hostage rest one day.

My philosiphy is to have the least moving parts possible on my setup, if it moves it will malfunction.

to answer your question dirrectly, if she wants one get it, If she doesn't care, don't spend the $ on one. She is the one that has to shoot it. My wife wants one so after this season she will have one.

I tried 5 different drop aways...back to the WB every time. Nothing to go wrong. Only issue I had was some shafts are loud on the draw, esp camo. Silicone the shafts and WB. I found the Axis arrows are the quietest on the draw.
