I got a PRE rally it came with a whisker biscuit do you think I should upgrade to a drop away. What advantages does it have vs the whisker biscuit?

I like a whisker biscuit because I don't have to worry about my arrow falling out of the rest as I move my bow around. This is especially helpful as I don't hunt froma tree stand very often, mostly moving around and stalking. Very nice to not worry about another mechanical part to give out and holds my arrow in place while belly-crawiling. I have also seen people miss opportunities at animals because their fall-away wasn't timed correctly and affected arrow flight. Just be sure to use a stiff vane, like Blazer vanes which will not be affected as much going through the whiskers of the rest. Overall, I think it is a matter of deciding what works best for you in your typical hunting style. I love my whicker biscuit and actually chose it over a shoot-through rest which came on my bow. hope this helps!

Rip cord Red is my preference. It comes with total enclosure so the arrow can't fall off. While I've only shot a couple thousand arrows I haven't had a problem yet. If the arrow isn't touching the rest in flight it can't rip the fletchings or distort the flight.

I personally have never liked the WB. I hunt in freezing temps often, and would never trust it in a sleet or snow storm. They can wear on your fletchings too. There are a ton of full containment drop-away options for you out there.

You get to play with tuning it. Keep the WB. IMO

The question is what do you gain with the drop away? 2-3 FPS? Keep it simple.

I just purchased a PSE Surge and a QAD Ultra. My concerns were exactly Fitz regarding the whisker biscuit freezing. The Pro Shop warned me against the QAD Hunter saying he has had many issues after buying a bunch he was putting on as a kit, but never had problems with the Ultra.

Qad hdx drop away the best. The drop aways are better due to the fact less friction on your arrow the whiskers slow the arrow down when the vanes pass thru. And you can get a more percise arrow tune plus a wet whisker biscuit sucks when hunting. I use the qad hdx it has full containment i can roll my bow in circles the arrow is going no where lol. And no contact or friction once the arrow is fired. Also a biscuit will start ripping off vanes after awhile. just check out full containment drop aways qads , rip cords are good i switched to qad only because during a let down my rest stays cocked and ready for my redraw. And they have great warranties qad. mine has never had issues or froze up i hunted in -40 this past season and worked perfect.

A good drop away minimizes or eliminates fletching to rest contact which can and will affect the flight of your arrow. Most say even a well tuned Whisker Biscuit can steer your arrow if you torque your bow, drop your bow holding arm on the release, etc.. On the shot a good drop away does just that, drops out of the way and allows the arrow to pass through without being persuaded in a different direction. A Whisker Biscuit touches the arrow the full length and especially the fletchings as they pass through it. They are great for the KISS method but also have screws and bolts that can loosen, etc..

I love my WB and am not looking to change rests, but this is a great point that I never even considered!

WB rests are a tuning nightmare. The bristles wear and many are only adjustable in a single axis which is not ideal. I personally won't use one or recommend one. The only drop away I have ever seen fail was a ripcord.

Yes youll gain fps cause theres nothing touching your arrow or any friction on the vanes to slow it down.

Its worth it you will notice a huge difference. The qad hunter is a cheaper full containment drop away and it has a warranty.

So you think the QAD is the best one to look into?

I think the best one is QAD HDX but thats me and my opinion ive put it through hell and back and its working perfect still. And it has awesome features and its dead quiet unlike others and stays up if you let your bow down ready for the second shot. They also have a great warranty.

Theres a couple models and a couple bow specific models also. But like i said my opinion ive shot the nap apache , ripcord code red , limbdriver , hostage and a trophy taker and all had issues or something happen. I really like the qads and they use great components and non freezeing lubricants in there rests also made in the USA.
