That is the problem people buy cheap crap then blame the equipment when the cheap crap does what cheap crap does.
I wasn't trying to start a war just shoot whatever rest you like. It just doesn't make any sense to me to shoot my arrows thru something other than animal hide. If it works for you by all means use it.
To tell the truth, if the WB came out today... I wouldn't buy it, or try it because of the contact and drag associated with the vanes passing through. I bought my first WB in like 2001 or 2002. Back then it was awesome compared to prong rests and such of the times. Because of that I learned that the rest is a very useful tool, that cannot fail with out something catastrophic happening like dropping the bow from stand etc. I used to heavily shoot 3D on the local, state and national level (read before having two kids), I certainly did not shoot the WB on the tournament trail. I have had three different brand drop aways fail on me (an APA Twister, Trophy Taker Shaky Hunter, Trophy Ridge Dropzone). Two were at shoots, one was the Ohio IBO State Championship about 5 hours from home on the second target, one at a local shoot, the third at home. This is why I have almost always stuck with the WB for hunting, it has never failed on me. Having said that I am probably shooting the Vapor Trail Limb Driver Pro V this year.
Poor guy that started this thread is probably scratching his head bald. This thread went from which size biscuit he should get to why or why not shoot a WB.
I started re fletching arrows because my blazer vanes were getting messed up by the whiskers. i went to a drop away and the problem stopped.
Not true, I've used one for many years and never had a single problem. If your bow isnt tuned and your arrow is coming out crooked then you can have issues with it rubbing a vain etc. Make sure your bow is tuned and you wont have issues.Dont blame it on the rest.
It can happen. My bows are tuned as close to perfection as I can get them. I shoot Blazers with a lot of helical and shoot several times a week year round. When I tried a WB the vanes got chewed up over time. I have nothing against them but to say they can only cause damage to vanes because your bow isn't tuned or you use cheap components is just not true.
I think his question got answered before the thread was derailed. Sent from my Classic using Tapatalk
You know enough to buy into an outdated myth. The amount of drag is so low, I only gained 2fps when I went to a QAD. I dont shoot the QAD any better than I did the WB, even out to 70 yards. WB is a damn good rest, foolproof, and a great design. Id educate yourself before questioning someones judgement on an open forum
This is Bullscat. Youre probably shooting to much helical on your vanes. When fletching for a wb I fletch them straight. Or your fletching skills are lacking
It's not that the whisker biscuit pulls the vanes off. The whiskers warp the blazer vanes after a while. But yes I shoot with a 6 degree helical and no it's not to much. And I'm sure a streight helical wouldn't have as much negative effect to it, but then you are sacrificing accuracy to use a junk rest
Frantzracing must have stock in whisker biscuit. Taking it pretty personal bro. I did not have a good experience with wb. The whiskers messed up my vanes and then the whiskers started getting matted up within a couple months. That's just my experience. If they work good for you then great. Rep the WB all you want.
Yep. I take pride in every aspect of my Bow and equipment. I shoot a lot and the wb didn't work for me at all.
I guess the WB doesn't follow the rules of physics. I want my arrows free and clear of ANY drag whatsoever."I only gained 2fps when I went to a QAD". Point made.
norway vanes... 3 years with 3 inch vanes and no issues....none...zero. some other softer vanes: rippled vanes did occur. I'll share my advice again: run a q-tip tru the WB...just enough to get a tiny bit of fibers on the black (bottom) portion...no more noise, and no impact to arrow flight. Laugh if you want...works flawlessly for me. try it and tell me what you discover. BTW... I hunt in freezing conditions andhave had no issues. Not saying that the WB is the end-all, because no piece of equipment is going to make everyone happy. To each his own, but try it for yourself before judging. Good luck this season!
