I have been out of Bowhunting for about 5 years and just getting back into it, buying a new bow, have it narrowed down to a Mathews Z7 and a Bowtech Destroyer 350. I have been reading good things about both rests and of course as we all know every person that picks up a bow has their own opinion about everything under the sun that has to do with Bowhunting. So in your opinion and hopefully personal experience with each, which one would you choose and why?? Thanks in Advance!!!
I started with a WB and liked it a lot. It was dummy proof, reliable and accurate. I loved the full containment. I decided to try a fall away and I really wanted (nearly) full containment so my top two were the Trophy Taker Xtream or the NAP Apache. I choose the Xtream and love it. It is quieter, a little faster and does not contact my fletchings. I know a lot of people use fall aways w/out containment but I really wanted containment so that I could have the bow on my lap when ground blind hunting and not have to worry about the arrow falling off the rest.
No experience w/ the WB but I really like the QUAD pro series I just put on my bow this winter. Full containment, you can draw and let down without arrowing dropping down as many times as you need, plus some other features I liked.
Tried the WB, i liked it except that it ruined some of my fletchings.....bought the octane hostage rest and i love it.....full containment, and no contact on the fletchings.
rip cord rip cord also, great rest full contain . same problem w/b trashes fletches after a pre season of practice
Ripcord here as well for hunting. The new Code Red with over molding eliminates the need for extra felt on the launcher as well.
My wife has a new Rip Cord Code Red and it works flawlessly. I'm thinking of changing to the Rip. Currently I use the Limbdriver and the only complaint I have is it's not full containment, although that has never been a serious problem.
Have used both, Whisker Biscuit and QAD, really can't go wrong with either, provided they are set-up correctly!
I've got the ripcord. The w/b tears up fletchings and slows arrow down due to the drag of the whiskers on the arrow and fletchings. Drop aways are nicer too because your arrow is in contact a shorter amount of time with the rest which helps if you jerk or flinch at the last minute. Just my opiion:D
Love my Kazaway.....They have the new forest drop that is built on the limbdriver principle. Full contain rest...you can flip the bow upside down and the arrow goes nowhere......drops when you fire. Brilliant.
i use the WB love it because it is fool proof not having to worry about the arrow falling off the rest when drawing but that is because i have always used a WB never have hunted with a drop away but have shot with a drop away didnt like it just couldnt get the hang of drawing it back and having the arrow stay on but the best is to shot both of them on a bow if you can
I would agree with that for the open drop aways but there are rests that have almost 100% containment. That is why I have the sight I have now. Unless I'm upside down , my arrow is going to stay on my rest. I don't think containment is a reason to pick either rest anymore. The apache that Siman is looking at has the same thing.
If you go with the z7 use the mathews dropaway,it fits the bow perfectly and works great.just my 2 cents.
