I have scouted an area twice in the last three weeks. First time just to see if there were any signs. Second time to confirm. Both times it was about 8:30am first time with very heavy dew (storm the night before) second time good dew on grass/foliage. Both times I found multiple dry ovals in one area. Second time I found another bedding area. They are within 60-80 yards of each other. With a nice path between the two. I found a tree that I can see both main trails to the areas from and a couple 'feeder' trails into the main path as well. I followed all the trails leading out of the bedding areas but encountered brush too dense for me to continue. I found prints and scat on some of these trails. There were holes in the brush but I wasn't going any further. I may be missing an outlet or two this area is squeezed between a ball field and 2 subdivisions so I did not go towards the houses. How do I set up? Does this sound like a viable area? No major feeding areas except the ball-field and the back yards. I found away to slip into where the tree is without going through the beds (but get real close to one on the way). No rubs or scrapes but I am ok with a doe for my first one ever!

Please help me figure out if this is worth a try. When should I go in? I do not have money for a trail camera this season (too many start-up costs already that's why I need the freezer full). But the signs are there!

oh so you know...first time hunter...been shooting bow for 2-3 weeks...12-16 arrows a day aim is good comfortable with anchor point and release...can hold full draw for awhile...been wearing out the local pro shop for tips etc..ready in the head to take one down ( I hope).

Any and all advice is appreciated! Thanks!!

Slipping in early morning you should be fine. Most likely the deer will be on their feet and feeding. Make sure wind is perfect and ease on in. If wind starts getting iffy as the morning rolls on, get down, and ease out. Don't take the chance of messing up the bedding areas. Sounds like you have been doing your homework so stick to the plan.

I would be careful scouting that early in the morning. I try to stick with around mid day to around 4:00pm. I am surprised you didn't see any deer when you were in there. Then again they may have seen/smelled you before you could have. Also be careful with scent control especially between now and opener. Good luck on your season.

That sounds like a great spot to wait for a buck checking for does between the two bedding areas in the rut.
