I'm not just a truck guy though. I love most things T-Top, anything that can take some Cragars and air shocks and pretty much anything that still had a chrome bumper option

This is a 1953, my first vehicle. That rear bumper still makes me cringe. It was on there when I bought the truck, someone hand built it. I thought it was cool someone hand built it when I was a kid but later on I was like...seriously WTF?! Lol (Senior pic 1994) Still have the truck!

Sweet! Class of 95 here and I had a Toyota corolla! Lol. Pops wrapped his 53 around a telephone pole, so there's that. And the bumper isn't that bad. It's unique.

I bought that truck when I was 15 for $500. It already had a 283 transplanted in it and a manual 5 spd and a sears and robuck under dash AC unit. Dad and I cleaned her up, did some body work on her and dad painted her. I bought new wheels and tires for it and spent as much on those as I gave for the truck. I had the coolest vehicle in school for 3 years. My senior year a sophomore and his dad built a 68 camaro and I lost my "guy with the coolest ride" title, lol.

'68 Camaro is my all time favorite ride, I can understand your loss of cool ride title.

Neighbor just bought a 73. Orange with the black stripes. Matching numbers. I'll post up some pics tomorrow when he gets it home.

I did at one time have a 55 ford f 100. Had a 289 mustang motor in it with a 4 speed top loader. Loved that truck! I was just a poor kid and never had the money to finish it. Ended up just selling after a couple years.

I am starting to see a comeback(?) of mid-80s Monte SSs. My old man had one of these:

    upload_2020-9-11_23-6-43.png

in gray with black lettering and Rallye wheels...was a pretty fun car. Took my HS GF out in it one time, ended up out in the corn field.... anyway, after we were done I got it stuck. Like stuck. This is 93/94 - no cell phones. Had to walk to the nearest farmhouse and knock on the door. Farmer was super POd but I offered him $100 to pull me out so I didn't have to have a tow truck in his corn field and/or call my (or her!) dad and he agreed.

Anyhoo, he rolls up in his tractor and sees what I was driving- "Wait - did you two just <have relations> in my cornfield in an El Camino? A GD El Camino?!?!?! He dies laughing and tells me to keep the cash and pulls us out. Says it was worth the laugh. My GF was purple she was so embarrassed.

Anyway, couple months later when school starts back up, her brother walks up to me in school and sucker punches me. Surprised me b/c we were always pretty cool. After WTFing him, I ask him what that was for. He's like- how many a-hole kids in Huntington County drive a bleeping silver El Camino SS and date a skinny blonde girl? You effing prick!

Turns out some of his friends were detassling and the farmer told them the story of the F-ing El Camino, and they told him.

...oh, to grow up in a 1- high school county....

I built this back in the day. 1978 short bed on 40's. My son was 3 or 4 in the pic but is now 32.

My current ride is this pro street '69 chevelle. Big block, runs 11.70's.

Those are cool, I never could find any of the late 60's or early 70's models. I found two 1977 "Z"'s (first year back) and bought those and still have them but they are still just like I found them. One has a title the other one doesn't, I bought it for a parts car. I got a decent start on the titled one and drove it a little but never finished it yet. I took it in as partial payment of some dozer work ($500 worth), the parts car I paid $300 for. They're in pretty bad shape, need all the typical stuff for camaros like floor pans and fender patches. Parts car has no drivetrain, the titled one has a 350 and a 350 turbo tranny converted from a manual which sucks. I'd kinda prefer to drive the automatic but it sucks they took out the original manual.

I'm actually currently looking for an 80s square body Chevy right now.

    Absolutely love the look.

I'd take the old Ford truck any day. toughest trucks ever made! I drive a newer truck to the woods but when the wife wants to go to the city and cruise we pull her baby out.
