Deciding which week to take off next bow season…

    10/26/2023 - 11/3/2023
    Or
    11/3/2023 - 11/10/2023

What are your thoughts and why?

I think it depends on what kind of property you hunt. If your property is core bedding area for your target deer I would pick the earlier dates. The later you go into mid November, the higher the chances are of your neighbors killing those target deer as they wander.

If you don’t have the core bedding area for those bucks, and you are hunting pinch points, funnels, and doe bedding…..I would pick the November dates.

You like hunting the full moon? 1st option if so, if not second. I've always hated the full moon so always tried to avoid it when I could.

No brainer for me, 2nd option. Usually more rutting activity, likely to be cooler weather, and **** the full moon!

Is 11/10 - 11/17 a option? From what I've been seeing that was a heck of a week on bucks this year. One property I hunt had 5 bucks taken just that week, and those are the ones I know about.

What did your trail cams tell you this year? What week had the most buck activity? I would pick off that Intel.

Cams show the most mature bucks the first week at night but I shot mine on the 6th and could have killed another the 7th… second week it is… and I checked the moon will be full that first week

I always, no matter what, prefer the second week on, in November. My reasoning is that by then, the mature deer are most definitely up on their feet. I have an opinion that the mature bucks on any given property know exactly when its times to get up and breed. This is why you see a ton of 3 year old killed from around halloween timeframe on, compared to the the 4 plus year old deer.

I'd absolutely take that later week, I don't care if it was a double full/eclipse moon....
