I am thirty three years old and when I got into archery I was in my mid teens and into my early 20s. Very time consuming and life taking off for me I got out and only deer hunted with a gun.

I just bought a Hoyt Carbon Spyder 34. I will be shooting 67 pounds and looking into shooting the Gold Tip Kinetic Kaos. Spine is 340, but my question and all my confusion is which vane should I use. I am gonna be shooting the Exodus 125 grain full modelfrom QAD Archery Produc I am very confused which vane will steer this broad head the best. I know larger broad heads need more fletching to steer it. I don't shoot beyond 40 in a hunting situation. Please steer me in the right direction.

    Thanks!

Try a few styles most good proshops should be able to get you single arrows with different fletchings should cost under $50 to figure it out.

Are you going to fletch them yourself?

My setup is Halon 32 set at 65 pounds. I shoot Easton Axis with QAD exodus 100 grains. The vanes that I like are your standard 2 inch blazers and they steer my arrows very straight! :tu:

I tried a bunch (8??) of different vanes a few years ago. FlexFletch is what I like the best. Consistent/quiet/durable and stick great (Zing primer and AAE FastSet - you can't pull them off with a pliers). FFP-360 or SK-300 work for me.

BUT IMO nothing with steer your BH like 4" Trueflight feathers. Yes I use them still too.

I really don't know, just saw them and picked them up. I figured I add a extra thump.

I shoot the exodus in 100 grains with fmjs and 65 pound set up. To be honest I think they will fly with whatever vane you choose. I have the blazers on my arrows but have shot them with rayzr feather fletchings as well. I usually don't wear gloves but I have a fresh tattoo.

I have always heard high profile vanes for fixed broad heads, though they aren't what I consider large broad heads.

So that's the result of the exodus? How was the blood trail and how far did he go?

The doe was shot on Friday evening. They were super spooky by a coyote in the field. I shot her quartering away at 25 yards and aimed at the bottom of her chest about 4 inches behind her elbow for a heart shot or clean miss to avoid wounding her and a long track job. She dropped like expected and tried to turn but it was to late. Lot of blood immediately and only ran 40 yards. Complete pass through.

I hear those exoduses does the job. Though I would like to see what QAD would bring to the table as of mechanices.

Yeah I shoot the full blades and really like them. I'm a fixed blade shorter have never had a reason to go to a mechanical.

I shoot the 2" blazers with all the broad heads I shoot. Fixed and mechanical, makes no difference from either of my bows.

I shot a decent sized 2.5 year old buck last year with the Exodus. My arrow is roughly 460 grains and it blew through him really well! His blood trail wasn't spectacular, however I found him no problem. :tu:

Been shooting Slick Tricks the last few years I was actually hunting. Was ready to go a few weeks ago when I got a wild hair and bought a new bow. Decided to switch to GT Platinum Pierce arrows to aid in penetration with my new lighter poundage set up and the AAE vanes simply aren't up to the task of steering. I am going to shoot Rage this season as they are hitting with field points but will be switching to Blazers for next year to get back to the broadheads I prefer. For your head I would shy away from these AAE low profile vanes.
