I got my Nitrium Turbo back from the shop, had red & black strings put on it. Now I want to set it up for long range shooting. I have some FMJ's laying around that weight 517gr's, I want to use these to shoot long range, 100+ yards. Which vane & vane configuration do y'all recommend for that?

I shoot 3* helical Blazers and they seem to do the job at that range. My finished arrow weight is also over 500 grains.

Take into consideration how different vanes impact arrow flight. Smaller shorter vanes will have less wind drift at long range due to less surface area, but they will also stabilize the arrow less in flight over long distance with a broad head. They will also maintain their speed better. Larger vanes will drift more and be a lot slower due to their increased drag and surface area, but they will provide better stabilization with broad heads.

How you fletch them also will impact at that distance. A helical fletch will loose velocity more over time but it will provide better accuracy at long range, than say a strait fletch that is moving faster but not spinning as much as the helical fletch. So a helical fletch at long range is better imo. To me, your best option would be a smaller vane with a three degree helical. This is assuming your not trying to kill anything with broad heads at 100 yards.

Thanks for the input. I'm just shooting for fun. I had a friend show me a YouTube video the other day & told me I couldn't do it. They was shooting an egg at 100yrds. I don't take someone telling I can't do soothing very well. So I'm gonna show him!!!
