Which rut Weekend

    If you had to pick one weekend to hunt for the rut which one would you chose. october 30,31, nov 1 or would you hunt november 7,8. so if you could only pick one which would you choose and why

    Me? I'd rather do the 7,8 with everything (weather, pressure, etc) else being equal.

    All I know is I have November 4th,5th, and 6th off and Halloween weekend. So those days are the best.

    last year in my area nov 1-4 were hot.
    saw a 140 inch buck chaseing a doe on nov 2nd

    This year I'm hoping the 7th and 9th. As I go up to the hunting land every other weekend and that will be the weekend of the two I will be up there. I'll be home but hunting local public land over the Halloween weekend.

    but in a perfect world, I'll fill my tag this weekend and not have to worry about the rut.

    If I had to choose 1 or the other I would take 7th-8th every time.

    Halloween always seems to be a good starting point to get out there, but it's hit or miss down here it seems.

    You being so far north might be different. My answer is for my area

    It's pretty tough to beat that first weekend in November IMO. Temperatures play a big part as far as how active they'll be, but the first cold snap first week of November I hope I'm in a tree

    Last year in northern illinois the little guys were rutting early and the big boys were real late, like 2nd gun season late. I'm about 40 min from WI border
