Hey everyone! Thanks for having me here... I been looking for a while to change my bow rest. Which one will you choose out of these? The trophy taker xtreme fc SL or the N.A.P Apache? I currently have a cheap shoot through rest and what to improve my groups and accuarcy (expectially longer range). My fletching touch and dont want this problem anymore. Also im tired of having to watch out when moving, not to drop the arrow... Thanks alot.
Trophy Taker hands down in my opinion. I didn't not care for the feel or the craftsmanshi of the Apache. The TT's are extremely simple, easy to tune, and easy to set up. Not to mention durable as anything on the market
I found it to be a pretty good price for a rest ,( instead of paying 110$ for the fc top slot camo version)
pro octane hostage rest! not on the list! well guess it ought to be cause its better than those that are!!!!!
I personally use the Vital pro kaz away but I have heard nothing but great stuff about the NAP Apache..Walt
I've handled both rests in question and they are very similar. For the cost difference IMO the Trophy Taker isn't worth it. I just put an Apache on my new bow and the setup was extremely easy. Backcountry - I'm not sure what you mean about the craftsmanship of the Apache. I don't think the fit and finish or durability of any NAP product has ever been a question. My Apache is solid as can be and built like a mini tank. At the end of the day it's a pretty simple dropaway, which is what I like about it. In any case, I don't think you can go wrong with either rest.
Trophy Takers and the G5 Expert are my two favorites! I have one of each on my two bows and love them both.
I guess I better check out the drop away type rest. I have always been reluctant to put one on because it seems like there is a lot of room for error. Having that part of the bow moving just doesn't compute for this old fool. I always figured something would slip and I would shoot myself in the hand.:D
Any particular reason why? Put them side by side and they're practically the same rest. The Apache has toolless adjustments and is 1/2 the price. Am I missing something?
I never have had the chance to mess with the Apache, never had any issues with TT either though. I have been shooting a Limb Driver for a few years now and it would take quite a bit to change that.
The price for the tt sl is like 40-50$ on ebay and for the nap apache is 60$, so there pretty close in price. (remember the tt is the sl model is like the economical version of the TROPHY TAKER XTREME FC TS TOP SLOT CAMO)
I use a FUSE arrow rest now...but I have used the TT in the past and liked it...although it snaps up into position a little abruptly for my liking and the cord that lifts the rest into position passes through a hole in the main part of the rest that will wear out the cord eventually...if you use this rest you will need to monitor that cord and replace it as needed.
My local shop sells the nap sizzor rest to everybody it seems so i got mine and so far love it on my d350 ... it's strange looking but it has great vane clearance and it gets out of the way.
Justin: I just didn't particularly care fo the Apache. The one I handled had machine marks all over it, was never tumbled. Granted, this was one of the first models. I wouldn't mind seeing one now. My opinion may be somewhat biased too considerng I used to live 30 miles from where TT was assembled. However, I've set up litterally hundreds of TT's and have never had an issue with one. BOWSPEC, i'm willing to bet your problem with the arrow snap into position abruptly is a tuning issue.
No...it's not. The rest just works that way...at least with my bow...the rest doesn't rise until the very last bit of the draw before the wall. I was more comparing it to the QAD that stays in the up position after you let the bow down which is a much better design in my opinion.
Then it is a tuning issue, you have to adjust to cord length. The rest should come to the "up" position approx. the last 2'' of your draw cycle. WHat bow are you shooting? that determines where the cord should be tied in as well.
What I didn't like about the Apache is it has rubber piece adhered (I'm guessing glued) to the inside of the cage to damper noise . I just think that would eventually start to separate after some time. The TT is a sprayed on coating that will not peel away.
