I'm probably going to pick me up a new release in the next little bit and was wondering, which design is better, I'll be using it for Hunting AND 3-D... Probably going to go with something from the Scott Line and was wondering which design would better suit me and why? Thanks guys. Dual Jaw Caliper Single Jaw Open Jaw
Definately the open jaw for hunting. So much easier to handle at the moment of truth. Blessings......Pastorjim
I use the single jaw for hunting and it works fine for me. I like scott releases. I have the itty bitty goose.
Not trying to sway you from the Scott line, but have you looked at the fuse line? I think they are called cinch or clinch. I've got one, and it is sweet.
I don't know if one type is better than another but I prefer the double caliper release. In my mind it seems with both jaws pulling away there would not be a tendency to pluk the string in one direction. I doubt that really happens with the other types but it eases the concern in my head LOL.
Scott makes the Fuse line I actually found a Clinch Barrel for 48.88 I'm probably going to go with. It's a single jaw.
HTML: Fuse releases are made by Scott. As for which is best, it's all personal preference. I don't think any one design is better from an accuracy perspective than any other. Personally, I use the open jaw/hook style release and really like it. In fact, I shoot the same model that you posted (Scott Silverhorn).
I use a double jawed Truball Copperhead and love the thing. Its very small and easy for me to put on the loop as its just squeeze the trigger, put on loop and release. I have been kicking the idea around of going to an open jaw though. I can see where it would be much easier to put on the loop without looking at it.
I was thinking about making the switch from a dual jaw to an open/hook design after reading the article by one of the BH.com staff members. Not sure if its the right decision this late in the season, but definitely worth looking into in the spring.
Each serves a purpose. The single jaw and open design are best suited for use with a d-loop. The double jaw are used more by those that shoot off the string with no d-loop
