I agree. I have to say Triple Double is the more impressive because, like you said, you control your own destiny in baseball. Regardless of how good your team is (although it helps to be surrounded by other competent batters) you can still get up there, swing the bat well and hit .400.

For a basketball player to average a triple double obviously requires help from skilled teammates to average the 10 assists. Take Lebron, for example, whom I believe the only player to have the chance (a slim one) of doing it. With the team he is on now, it would be hard for him to average 10 assists becuase he has to score for the team to win. If he played alongside another competent scorer, then I think he would have a better chance of doing. Still, take the season he is having now, averaging like 28,7, maybe? (off the top of my head) and he'll likley win the MVP. But even with the outstanding season he has had, to average 3 more rebounds and 3 more assists is a lot tougher than it sounds.

Ask Ted Williams (.406) for the season last person to do it since 1941!
I think he played for the RedSox??!!

Like has been said already, being that in baseball you "control your own destiny" in a sense I'd say it is harder to average a triple double than it is to hit .400. In basketball there are too many outside factors. For example, someone has to make a shot for you to get an assist and for every rebound opportunity there are 9 others trying to get the same rebound you are. On the other hand, in baseball, every time you come up to bat its just you and the pitcher. There is no else there who might take the hit from you nor do you have to rely on someone else on the team to do something for your hit to count.

It seems that every year, at least through the all-star break, there is talk about someone having a chance to hit .400 as their batting average is above that or close to that. On the other hand, someone averaging a triple double hasn't been mentioned in many, many years because the feat just hasn't been approached.

    Triple double without question.

In order to do that, we all agree that it would be points, rebounds and assists right? Like mentioned before, the assists part is one where you have to count on other players. It wont ever be done again.

In defense of the .400 hitter, what if the player to average a triple double was more a Jason Kidd type player rather than a Lebron? What if he only averaged 12,11,10.. it still a triple double of course but with a talented point guard it could be done. Also, a baseball season is 162 games, it is unlikley that a player to hit .400 would play every game, so lets say he plays 150. Think about it, to consitently bat over .400 for ONE HUNDRED FIFTY games is a without a doubt tougher than 'averaging' (meaning you do not have to record a triple double every night)a triple double for just 82, no?

Mo Williams, Delonte West, Daniel Gibson, Sasha Pavlovic, Wally Szczerbiak , Big Z..... Can all knock the bottom out of the basket.

Mo Williams is an all star :hail:

They don't have the best record in the NBA because LeBron is the only one knocking down shots....

Right now at the half, Clevelands backups are 12 points ontop of the #6 seed 76ers who are playing their starters ;)
