I dont know which is more dangerous per se but I would venture to say that Texting and driving would be because you are taking your eyes off the road... Not to say that drinking and driving isnt dangerous but I have seen some people who can REALLY handle their alcohol that can function normally when highly intoxicated...

Neither is a good decision but i will put my vote in as Texting being more dangerous

So if the majority of people in this poll believe texting while driving is more dangerous than a .12 BAC, then would you all be in favor of ramping up the penalties for texting and driving, thereby making them comparable or even greater than those of a guilty DUI penalty?

So you take your eyes off the road for a few seconds to send a text...is that much different then digging out your smokes? Digging out your fast food from the bag and eating it? Just saying...

I however vote for the .12 BAC. The drunk will be drunk from point a to point b...the entire time.

I think it is a far more common distraction that takes the driver away from driving for longer periods. So I would say it is different. I could dig a sandwich out of a bag or pull smokes out of my pocket without taking my eyes off the road. Texting takes more of your concentration away for driving. Bottom line is, all of them are stupid things to do while driving. Statistically, I think a lot more accidents are caused by texting.

    No they haven't.

Most states it is now illegal but comparable to a seatbelt ticket.

No loss of license, no jail time... And justifiably so. It is dangerous, as is speeding, eating while driving, and a million other things. I try not to but sometimes catch myself sending a text.

I do NOT drive while drunk tho, because the stakes are much higher (both safety and legally speaking).

being 14 and not really ever seeing anyone with a BAC of 0.12 i would say texting. a girl at my high school was walking while texting and because she wasnt paying attention at all she got hit by a car and broke her pelvis. it was some pretty serious stuff.

Also depends if you type all 10 letters without looking up or if you type one letter at a time, looking up after each one. Doing it this way would be no different than checking your speed or mirrors.
