So many people are drunk driving after midnight, every day. We, like most everyone else, have people killed in our county every year. In fact, a couple of years ago an illegal immigrant who had two prior DUI arrests, killed a nun and gravely injured two others while he was DUI. Horrible.
Just my opinion but you could just as well ask which is more dangerous. Falling from a climber without a harness or falling from a hang on without a harness. Neither is a good option.
They are both dangerous and saying one is worse than the other without all the considerations like the person, body weight, did the person type the whole text at once without looking up, speed, traffic, etc. I would not recommend either.
Both make me incredibly irritated, I know that. I still vote BAC since, as stated, it will affect people irreversibly. You can stop texting momentarily and focus on the road. You can't stop a buzz or drunk state. With that being said, both are just as stupid. I pass people all of the time texting and driving (just one this morning). You can CLEARLY see it affecting their driving. I just want to tell them to put it down. You're not that important to warrant risking others on the highway. The text can wait. Then again, it's a lost cause. It's unfortunately something we will have to deal with as long as technology exists.
My vote is also for driving drunk, but texting and driving is just stupid. Most phones have voice to text these days, and if you really have to text, I would recommend using it. If your out there driving drunk, well I just want to beat your face in because your a jackass.
My best friend was the passenger in a car that crashed, driver tested below an hour after the crash at the hospital - case reached a settlement. He wasn't wearing his seatbelt, never really did though so no second guessing. He hadn't been drinking either, was playing college golf at Ball State and friend picked him up from Driving Range. So I will go ahead and say DUI.
.12 BAC ...IF they blew a .12 back at the precinct after field sobriety, paper work, etc he/she very well could have blown double that in the field. Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk 2
This! While you may only text for a few seconds as apposed to being drunk the whole time you're driving, more people txt & drive. Both are dumb.
From what i have seen? Both are pretty dangerous depending on the driver. A fun fact that i have picked up...alot of accidents that happen here are from virgin drivers. People who have never driven the road before. Couple that with not paying attention...ambulance ride to the ER. Maybe even a chopper if yor (un)lucky Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
Ever messed w breathalyzers much? My friend had one last summer and it was pretty eye opening, it really even depends on your mood while drinking. Some days I blew a .20 and felt only slightly buzzed...other days a .14 and I felt like I could barely walk. I have no problem drinking with the best of them (born and raised in bourbon country) but I'm not a pretty big guy w a tolerance to boot. Average sized people who don't drink that often would absolutely be pretty darn drunk at a .12, ask any cop who deals with them much....especially females. Lol
Im confused. If .08 is 2 beers or so, wouldn't .12 = 3-4 beers? Also, I was once driving, not texting or drinking but on the way to a party to drink and I got pulled over for drunk driving. I think the officer was more than embarrassed when he found out that I was just a terrible driver.
I think this just goes to show you how dangerous texting is... we are having a debate between them. I say they are equally dangerous. Use voice text... or if you aren't a 16 year old girl texting LOL or OMG to your girlfriends just put the phone down.
Everyone is different on how they respond to alcohol. I've found each beer pumps you up by about .02, meaning a .12 is about a 6 pack of beer consumed over 1-2 hours. And most of the the time when a guy blows a .12 at the station they were about .15-.18 or even higher in the field, meaning they were dangerous as heck to driving. I've pulled over many bad drivers that looked like they were dui and never once was I embarassed. Their driving behavior dictated a stop and then we both moved on.
