    Guys -

I am about to upgrade my bow for this season. I am pretty much sold on getting a used Iceman as I have loved the look of this bow since they came out. I find myself wondering if i should be buying the model that maxes out at 60lbs or opting for the model that maxes out at 70lbs.

I don't recall what my current bow is but, if I were to guess...maybe the low 60's. I'm wondering if a bow would shoot at it's peak performance when maxed out or toward the beginning of it's range. I don't see myself hunting over 65lbs anymore in my life as I've learned that when you are cold and stiff, more lbs = more problems.

Any opinion on what direction I should take this one?

It used to be that most bows were best maxed out, but I believe most newer bows are good across their full range.

I'm happy that I stuck with a 60# bow. I can shoot a 70# no problem, but I still get plenty of oompf out of my bow and I don't have to worry about pulling a muscle after sitting all day in sub-zero temps :tu:

I agree. A few generations of bows ago, you use to have your bow 75% to 100% full tiller to have the bow the quietest and perform the best. These days, a quality bow does it all across the entire range. For that reason, I recomend getting a 70# bow and turn it down. It gives you more options and there is no down side.

Thanks Guys. That helps take another variable out of the equation.

Time to treat myself to an upgrade.

I picked up a new Iceman flx last December on ebay. I think I payed about $500 for it. Absolutely love it and can't wait to hit the woods with it.

Bummer. I did not get the bow. after being the only bidder on the bow at 349.99 for 4 days, some one (a private bidder) ran over my highest bid with about 20 seconds remaining. I'm bummed out and half of me thinks it's someone related to the owner since it did not come close to their buy it now price of 440. Or....at least that is the story I'm going with. Heck, for the difference i should have just done the buy it now. It came with sights, rest, quiver etc. Just venting...thanks for listening!

Oh well, I'll keep my eye out!
