If you can save another $60-70 you would be into Smith J Frame which is, IMHO, much better for self defense than any .380. Not trying to come off harsh so take this as you please.. You should never have to justify spending money on a self defense piece. My Glock doesn't get shot much but the reliability was well worth the $500 alone. I know that gun will never fail me.

I've got a couple Kel-tec's, you are correct they aren't much to shoot and in this instance that's ok. If you run across a good deal, let me know.
There was thread a while back where you had posted a picture of a .22 pistol, I believe. I went to buy a Ruger Mark III (target) the other day, but decided to look around one last time. I'm wanting a .22 pistol to plink with, suggestions?

The Ruger SR-22 is a great pistol. It will literally cycle anything. If your wanting more of a full size I would look at a 22/45 or Mark III. The new 22/45 Packlite is sweet.

I have a S&W 22-A, they run around $250ish for the basic model and I really have never shot a more accurate pistol. I've got about $300 in mine with the sight, being it has the rounded bull barrel, target grips, hi-vis sight iron sights. I ordered it from a shop for 265(which was really good for the model) and then threw the red dot on it.

This was a 10 round group at 22 yards...
