Pro's Con's of each? Just looking for a family system to play games. Not really looking for a DVD player or internet browser or to watch shows with. PS3 or PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360 or one. We don't need the greatest most advanced thing. I have been out gaming for 10 years and am lost.
Go get a 360 and you will be pleased. They are pretty cheap now. On black friday they were selling for like 99 bucks. You get that and a couple used games for under 150 and your set. Newer systems will run much more then double that price and not worth it for your needs.
I would go newer. Both the ps4 and Xbox one are great. You might have to look at the games that are one console specific in order to find out which system is best. Xbox has halo and now minecraft, and a bunch of others whereas ps has uncharted, and infamous and a bunch of others. The problem with older systems, is the companies stop making games for them, and they become 400 dollar bricks. The ages your kids are, I would think the Xbox one and ps4 both would be relevant until they're over 18.
If you plan to keep it for a while, I'd go with one of the two newer systems.. PS4 or Xbox One... Games for the older systems will be harder and harder to find until they are eventually phased out. I haven't used either system though as I don't have much free time for stuff like gaming. Seems like most of my friends chose PS4 over the Xbox but idk the reasoning.
Good info so far. I can get a PS3 for 179 at Walmart. Otherwise the newer model ones are 350. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I asked the people at GameStop the same question and they said that PS4 is the most advanced system right now for gaming and that the Xbox 1 was second but was better if you wanted to do other things with it. Also it depends if you want to play with friends online and which system your friends have because you can't play with people who have an Xbox with a PS4. Finally PS4 is also slightly better quality, but more expansive, than the Xbox one.
Agreed! I still have mine from christmas 1986 (2 of them actually, not sure where I picked up the 2nd one) I think I need to pull out them out this weekend and play some Zelda
I have had a PS3 for a long time and have gotten decent use out of it. I have very few games that I've been impressed with at all but I think that has more to do with how my tastes and interests have changed as I aged. Skyrim is probably my favorite game ever and the Batman Arkham Origins game was decent. One plus about the older systems is that many of the games can be bought for $19-$29 at Walmart.
If you are going to buy a system for the family, Nintendo platforms are the only way IMO. Depending on age, Sony nor Microsoft have many family games. Personally i've had almost every system but I enjoy PS3 the most. I believe that Xbox 1 and PS4 also require an online account for online play.
my son has a ps4 he really likes but he hardly uses it anymore plays mostly on a gaming PC he built...
