Im looking to get a covert cam. Which would be the best cam for around $150 ? Thanks. Im sure its been covered a bunch on here but was tired of searching. Thank you. I've been looking at mp6 mp6black. Not sure what the difference is.

red 40 or two MPE5s depending on your needs.

the black refers to no visible flash/glow like the IRs.

A friend of mine has the Red 40. It takes unbelievable pictures and videos and has outstanding battery life. He runs it all year and said he has not changed the batteries since he got it last February. I'm going to get one as soon as I get the money and they're right around $150

Hey Pat, I found the Red 40 that I had lost! I went to one of my properties this morning to move a wagon blind out of one field and into another spot for turkey season this spring. I was driving along a hedgerow looking for sheds and spotted my camera right where I had hung it in November. We have had the coldest, most brutal winter ever and that thing took my picture when I walked over to get it. Tons of pictures on it and still had great battery life left. They really are great little cameras. Just make sure you make notes as to where you hang them! :o

I will break the norm and say MP6...I honestly feel all Coverts are amazing or I wouldn't vouch for them but I do feel the most bang for your dollar is in that cam...save the extra saved and get another or some other equipment...yeah the Red 40 is a step up but bang for your hard earned dollar I stand behind the MP6.

Preference between mp6 and black? Not worrying about video so much.

Hard choice really. You need to get a Covert for every situation :).
But I recommend alot the 2012 red40 deal for 120$ > DLC Covert

I would personally get a mp6black over the mp6. Cant go wrong either way, and both are great little cameras. The mp6black throws off a tad more light at night then the mp6.

Wingsupply= Wildlife Management - Game Cameras - Wing Supply
^ has the best deal on the mp6blacks(or mp6) around.

Keep us updated on what ever you get.

Was thinking of going with the red 40 but I looked on stick n pic today and they have a mp6 black with a free screw in tree mount for $121. That's tempting. Is the red 40 so much better than the mp6 black that I should pass up this deal?

Hard choices yes on all great cameras, but the tree screw mount would seal the deal for me if I was looking and the mp6black is a favorite of mine.

Even too if you plan on messing with video. Obviously the 2013 red40 will take the best videos out there, but my mp6black took decent night time videos(day time not so much).

So my vote is mp6black with the stic n pic tree mount.
