I hunt wetlands and lose arrows, and heads so I tend to post season deal shop. This season it's Axe broadheads, and Dead Ringer Rampage 3 blades. Both hit with my field points on targets will see how they do on deer.
On my compound set up I shoot rocket hammerheads 2 inch or grim reaper 1 and 1/2 in cut On my recurve I shoot the Magnus Stinger with bleeder blades, i'm a firm believer in not shooting a 2 blade broadhead if you can help it and if you do have to then use bleeders because the blood trails are just no comparison to a 3 or 4 blade heads....
I have rage extreme chisel tips and I have 4 blade magnus stinger buzzcuts have taken deer with each. I like the simplicity of the fixed blade but I like the huge cut of the rage extreme. Last year with rage a mediocre shot clipped a lung took out diaphragm and turned deers stomach inside out. deer made about 100 yards the year before with the magnus, all I can say is I don't think the deer knew what happened, which I really like because the deer didn't up and take off, but my blood trail wasn't great
Currently shooting Muzzy Trocar. Really impressed with them, I got them as a gift last year and have been shooting them this year. Generally I use the G5 Montec, they are so dang easy to resharpen and I've killed multiple deer with the same broadhead because of that.
I posted earlier in this thread that I was sticking with my tried and true Thunderheads of many years. Went to BH tune this new bow and had a devil of a time with them. Thought maybe blades or rings were bad so I bought replacement blades/rings. No go. Went out and bought a brand new pack. No go. Rage practice head was good from get go but understand mechanicals as a sort of band aid. Friend had some Montecs, Hartcrafts, Muzzy 3 bld std. Since dropping weight I wanted a solid COC fixed. The Montecs, Hartcrafts and Muzzys flew great right off the bat. Couldn't see bow being out of tune when only one of the variables were bad. Have since gotten THs to fly ok but going with Montecs this year.
100 gr G5 strikers. Before I used the Muzzy 4 blade. I won a package of the strikers 2 seasons ago and was very impressed how stable the arrow is in flight. Never shot any but I'm currently not a fan of the mechanical. I know my fixed blades will cut on contact every time. Just my opinion.
I really wanted to try both the Spitfire Double Cross and the Muzzy Trocar HB this season, but couldn't pull the trigger. Sticking with 100 gr. Slick Trick Mags. Solid and dependable.
I was very, very close to pulling the trigger on these this season. Went with the DoubleCross instead.
I'm not sure yet I'm torn between Slick Trick Mags and NAP Killzone they both fly great cant make up my mind fixed or expandable.
