I'm stuck between the G5 montecs and the slick trick magnums. Just curious on who shoots them and their opinion on the heads. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
The correct answer is always slick trick. It doesn't even matter what the question is. Do yourself a favor. You deserve it, treat yourself to Slick Tricks.
Slick Trick Magnums have done very well for me. I have been shooting them for about five years. I have never used G5 montecs. I had a friend that tried them and complained about them being dull out of the package. Slick Tricks are incredibly sharp and durable. I used the same head on three deer and a coyote last year without any dullness or damage to the blades. Same head will be first up again this season.
Slick Trick are a better head all the way a round. More durable, sharper and way better design. Montec are injection molded junk.
Both are great heads but my favor between the two is the Slick Trick. Easier to tune and replaceable blades save you hours of sharpening.
Slick tricks hands down. If I were to shoot something comparable it would be a muzzy trocar. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Slick tricks are super easy to resharpen. We even created a low cost product to do this with the 19 degree slick trick blade angle in mind. Their blades are great and strong and there is no need to throw away a blade just because its dull.
I have not shot the Slick Tricks, but have shot the Montecs and did not care for them. They are not bad, but I would choose something else over them. I used them after shooting the Muzzy MX-3's, the MX-3 did a much better job in my opinion.
Slick Trick mag all the way. I haven't had the need to ever shoot a different head because the SS just work. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
have killed game with both montec carbon steel and slick trick regular. while slicktrick is what I use now I wouldn't hesitate to use montec CS again. having said that I wouldn't take a stainless steel montec or any three blade stainless steel broadhead as a gift... in my experience carbon steel 3-blade are far sharper.
How do the slick tricks fly compared to field points? I understand there will be some adjusting but is there a major difference in flight? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I have shot both and hands down I go with the slick tricks. And for your point of impact question, I didn't have much difference between field points and Broadheads. If you do experience a big difference, you most likely have some tuning issues.
Not out to 50 yds. Don't know about further than that. That's as far as I've shot them with my field points. They were so close it was laughable Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
