I am currently deployed to Afghanistan so I am looking to get a bow for wife and one for myself when I return...For the wife I was thinking either a Bowtech HeartBreaker or a PSE Stiletto? For myself thinking either a Bowtech Assassin or a PSE BowMadness XL.. Just looking for reviews from those that have shot these bows...
Best bet: go to a shop and shoot what you think you would like. Don't just buy online without shooting them!
Sorry, I shhot Matthews. But the ones you mentioned are excellet bows. And thanks for your service for our country. I appreciate what your doing. Thanks again.
I love my assassin. The heartbreaker is just a womans version of the same bow. What branch are you in I am in the Air Force
First, thanks for your service and hope you make your way back safe and sound. 2nd- I'm brand new to bow hunting, but have shot many bows finding one and suggest that you do the same. I would walk into a big store *cableas, etc* and shoot every bow that you have time to shoot, even over multiple days. I had an idea about a company and didn't think I'd like their bows, and conversely, liked a company and didn't like their bows. Shoot several manufacturers and several lines within each manufacturer. Whatever fits your style, and accomodates your budget, = the winner. For the record, I'm shooting a Bear. I thought I wanted a Hoyt or Mathews. I have previously shot PSE and Darton.
i'm pretty sure the important part of your question is that your wife wants a bow. I can't get my fiance interested at all. i'm better off talking to my dog about bowhunting, he at least will sit there and listen. so good on you for finding a woman who is interested. and Ive been looking at and shooting some Mission bows and been very impressed. thats what i'm thinking about getting. Good luck with your tour of duty. I'm a former Marine and Iraq vet. Keep your head down and get home safe
Thank you for your service and get home safe. Now as far as the bow goes...when you get home you have to shoot as many as you can before buying one. Don't settle for what somebody else thinkS is the best bow on the market. I've shot hundreds of different bows in the last 15 years and have owned way too many to count. They all shoot a little different. Just make sure the draw fits you properly and it feels good to you..then you will Be a lot happier w your purchase. And shoot better too!! Ok, so I understand the logic behind shooting a bow before I buy, However, how do I know what the right bow feels like???? What are your experiences with these bow when you shot them? Did they feel unbalanced, a little loud, or were they well balanced and quiet. As you can see I am in Afghanistan and just trying to do some research on bows to figure out what I might want to get for my wife and I when I return. So shooting them is a little hard to do right now....unless someone want to send me a couple to Afghanistan feel free to include review of bows that I have not mentioned....
Actually, I think Bowtech is big on supplying service members bows. Here's what I would do. Get your ass home in one piece. Make a call to Bowtech and see what they do for service members. GO to there website and send in a message. I just know they are very partial to service personnel. But you really need to shoot a few to get a feel. I agree with the other posts. Check out the low end and high end. I would try them all out. If you have buddy in the states that can go with you then do that too. Bows are like golf clubs. IT has to fit you. As for your service, thank you!! God Bless!! Be careful and be safe (if there is any such thing in Afghanistan...).
I plan on coming home in one piece and I plan on shooting as many bows as I can before I make my decision. I understand that what felt unbalanced for one person might feel balanced for someone else...I can go to the major retail stores and look and the reviews that they have their, but I always think that they might be paying some people to sit in a office and write good reviews on a product just for sales purposes...this is a place I can go to and actually get feedback from people who have actually shot the bow....
Quest has a Promotive deal on their bows. If you aren't already on I can PM you the link. Stay safe. Where you at?
Hey buddy, if you shoot every single bow on the market it's just too much to take in, so here's what I did: I just listed out everything I wanted in a bow... Axle to axle range (ex: 28-30 inches), minimum ibo (ex: 320 fps), minimum brace height (ex: 6.5 inches)... Now find all the bows that fit that criteria. This will help narrow it down. From there it's just like you said above, you'll feel how balanced each is, how load they are, the feel in your hand... I shot the hoyt carbon element. The draw was great. It was amazingly balanced and light. However, when I hit the release, oh no, felt like it was going to jump right out of my hand. Single cams were in store for me. This is all stuff you'll find when shooting them. You really can't tell by online searching, but setting some criteria will really get you salivating for one! I shot quite a few bows and ended up with the Mathews Z7 xtreme. I'm extremely happy with my decision and if I had to buy a new bow today, I'd buy it again. Also keep in mind customer service. Contact all the manufacturers you're interested in, just ask a few questions and see the response you get. I was also HUGELY impressed with Mathews.
