Buying my 16 year old a bow today. He's been shooting a Mission Hammr but he is just simply out grown it. So looking at the Bear Adapt or a Mission Switch or MRX. The Adapt can come with the RTH packege. If not I have all the accessories for a bare bow. My nephew had a Legit and it was not good. bad cam lean and loud.

If it were me I think I might look on AT classifieds and find a higher end bow for less money. Some guys are getting rid of bows after six months and they sell them pretty cheap sometimes. Good luck.

The only one I have any experience with is the Switch. It felt like mid line type bow. Was easy to shoot. Was completely adjustable. It wasn't my bow, but a friend's. It was completely out of tune in every aspect. But in about 30 minutes I had it tuned up real easy. It has the yoke system, so made very easy to tune it. Shot fine and held steady for me. I have no experience with other brands.

Is the Bear bows still a single cam system?

Bear bows have really stepped up their game in the last couple years. Elite has a super adjustable bow they released this year that I've heard good things on as well.

I think he's at the point that he is into an adult bow now. 60# 27" draw . I am going to let him shoot those bows and let him decide.

Id also opt to first look for a one or two year old flagship bow. I'm guessing your 16 year old can pull 50-60lbs. I just did the same thing for my 14 year old. He's a tank of a kid so instead of some ultra adjustable, one size fits all bow, I found him a two year old Bowtech Revolt X, just like mine, for a fraction of the cost. He can shoot this bow for a long time and also have all the nice, modern features of todays bows.

But, if money isn't an issue and you want to buy him a new bow, I would absolutely buy an adult bow of his choosing rather than the one size fits all type.

At 16 he's still probably going to increase in draw length some as time goes by. I don't' think I'd be looking for a highly adjustable one size fits all bow for him anymore, but I would want to choose a bow that has adjustable draw length mods. Gives the adjustability needed but doesn't have the spongy back wall of the 15 to 70 lbs type bows.

So we ended up with a bear whitetail pro. 55-70# set at 55 and draw length is set to 26”. Seemed to run a bit longer in this line up. He’s driving tacks with it at 20 yds. It’s a nice bow I think . Charcoal grey black sight, black drop away black stabilizer. Fast but quiet. Shooting 400 axis at 385 gr and will shoot 100 gr wac em 4 blade.
