Thanks for the kick in the balls.

That is probably the single dumbest regulation for hunting or fishing in MI.

Where we've gone the past 8 years the slot has hovered between 18.1-23.6 and down. This year it's 16.9-23.6. You can only keep one above the slot. This will be our 9th year. We've noticed an improvement in numbers and quality every year. The camp has an honor system. For every fish you throw back over the slot your name goes in the hat. At the end of the year one name is drawn for a free trip the next year. It's tough to have to throw back a nice 17 or 18 inch walleye... but it is what it is.

So what are you saying Dan. There are no males over 16", Females are all over 16", no females under 16" spawn, or that you need to be a fish sexer to keep a walleye?

I've been hitting it pretty hard the last few months. Fished 4 tournaments so far, taking two 3rd place in finishes, and a 4th in three of them. I haven't hooked up with a real toad of a bass to this point in the year, but here's a few pics.

Crappy pic, but this is the rig.

A few bass so far. (Some of them were caught while fishing alone, so that's why they are laid out on the boat deck)

Thanks all for the kind words!! Christine, I'll be shooting carp out of this boat this summer. ;) I took the family out yesterday In search of some crappies and or sunny's. Came home with 20 sunny's and 17 crappies. Ate em up last night. Pictured below Is my daughter scaling some fish so I can fillet them. I like leaving the skin on my panfish. She's a trooper!!

Schultzy, How does the skin on the fillet taste when cooked? I've never scaled or kept the skin on when filleting. Scaling is a pain in the *** to clean up.

I think It taste's much better, hense why I do It. It's messy but more time consuming then anything. All worth It though to me. I also make some of these as head choppers. Scale them, gut them out and chop the heads off. That's the best tasting If you ask me. Tails taste good too.

Hell, you can buy a cheap scaler at Walmart for like 1.98 or something like that. It works great. The scales are collected in the scaler and don't go flying all over the place like they do with a knife. The link below is the same one you get at Walmart. I love the skin on a lot of fish. A filet is fine... but sometimes it just cost you flavor.

Nice rig, seems perfect for what you want to do with it! It looks like your already starting to make memories with it too. Here my boat I picked up last year off a guy for a steal. 16 ft. Alumacraft with a 90 Merc on it.
