In the US, I love the Pacific NW. I also love New Mexico. I had put plans into motion to move to Denver about 3 years ago, but then I met my wife. I like where we live. It's not really the good part of LA (culture wise), but it is catching up.

Outside of the US, New Zealand or Switzerland. I don't care about their governments, because in this dream, I would be living mostly off the grid and self sufficient.

The Ozarks. Good fishing, lots of deer, nice folks, not too cold, not too hot.

Yup sure did. That is the one they remodeled the outside to make look rustic correct? The boat tour thing with dinner sounded cool as well. Guy sounded like a smart businessman.

How is the food? I presume excellent.

Yeah, they put log siding on the outside. It used to look like a traditional supper club. Yeah, Denny is a good guy. Had him up to camp a few times fishing as well. Great food.

Do people really say "supper" in Wisco?

Little House on the Prairie called...they want their word back. Charles Ingalls is pissed.

But he would like to buy some stock.

    Anywhere in the western mountains

Idaho, Montana, Colorado jump out right away.

Utah, Washington, New mexico & arizona seem pretty interesting too.

Maybe someday I'll take the chance and go for it.

Don't let Charles' ruggishly good looks, strong jaw line, bright hazel eyes, and gorgeously curly locks fool you. I bet he's one tough dude.

My company is about to open an office in Costa Rica and Australia. I "jokingly" telling Mrs. Hooker that I'm going to throw my name into the hat for those willing to re-locate. And by "joking", I mean, I'm going to do it.

If she can handle being 2 hours away from her mom, she can handle being a 24 hour plane ride away, right?

Let me know how that works out for you.......

BTW, Midwest, for all the reasons already stated. Costa Rica, or Alaska. Already in the Midwest, since I'm married, and my wife doesn't want to leave just yet. All things considered a good place to raise a family.

sorry to say but the farm raised grouse the guides release down in the "ruffed grouse capital" of the world don't appeal(we've still got more and better grouse around here) to me though flambeaurama is a pretty good time...you'd be better off over towards eagle river(not in it) or boulder junction and presque isle(if someone could find some work there) thats where the better fishing and hunting's still at without as many flatlanders and tourists yet.

For me, I would have to say Idaho, Wyoming, Montana,U.P.,Northern 1/3 WI, North Shore MN, getting up to Manitoba, or B.C. all have thier draws for me and similiar hunting & fishing traditions that I love. It would be a tossup amongst all these so I guess I'm good where I'm at.

While I like it where I am at... Idaho would be a great place to live with hunting in mind. They've got pretty much everything I would want to hunt.

Back in the early days (mid 80's and back )... lunch was inbetween dinner and supper for us farm boys. About 4 in the afternoon someone would bring you a couple sandwiches, cookies and something to drink to get you through until supper which was usually late.

Now days you fend for yourself and lunch isn't a part of your day. Tis way they called it the good old days.
