If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Alot of us live somewhere because we need to be close to family, you wife makes you live there, that is where you job is, you can't afford to move, you can't afford to live where you want, etc.

So taking out the money, jobs, and family part, and everything else being equal, where would you prefer to live? Then tell me why you don't actually live there right now.

I'm willing to guess most of us don't live in our dream location.

I love the USofA for the freedom and capitalism, sadly those things are slipping away. I'd probably move to New Zeland otherwise. The hunting, climate and beauty are awesome there, just don't like their government.

I don't think I have any one location that is my dream spot, more like a few. Each is different and each has their own reasons.

    In no particular order:
Somewhere out west, in the mountains.
    Bahamas
    Yukon

The reason I live here in West Central Wisconsin is mostly because of family. Though, its also a pretty decent place to live and raise the kids.

I would stay right here in Northern Idaho or possibly Montana. I have yet to find a place that I like more than the mountains I hunt and have grown up in. I will always continue to travel to hunt whitetails in other regions though!

Here's something you may not know about me...I have a short attention span. My dream would be to live a lot of places. I would love to live out west for a period of time, the pacific northwest, the Keys, Alaska, New Zealand, etc.

I have to admit, I don't have it too bad where I'm at now. Michigan has some of the most diverse freshwater fishing you can find, and world class size fish in many of the species.

I would have a farm in Iowa so I could have 3 buck tags. :)

Suppose I should answer my own question. Mine would be far northern Wisconsin. Probably near the Eagle River and perhaps as far west as Park Falls. I would love the Grouse hunting, good old fashion Wisconsin supper clubs. The quiet and slower paced lifestyle. The beauty. The big woods feel.

Congratulations Fitz! I believe your situation to be a rarity.

Have you ever been out west and seen the mountains, Brad?

Brad, you forgot to add outstanding musky fishing to your list of northern wisco activities.

I've been to Colorado around the Breckenridge area near the great divide once for work and had a half day extra to bum around. It was absolutely beautiful. I'll never question anyone who would put the mountains above all else because it certainly is special. I will certainly go back in the future. However, for a place for full time living I just love the culture (most of it anyway) of the northwoods in Wisconsin.

    But that is just me.

I can understand that. In your previous post you mentioned Supper Clubs. Gotta love a good old fashioned WI Supper Club. Watched a show on PBS the other day about different Supper Clubs around the state. Going to have to his a few different ones this summer.

Again, call me :dan:, but I've never been much of a hardcore fisherman. Perhaps now that I have a place up north where the fishing is better and not so crowded, I may start to get into it a little more. That is a bug that never bit me, at least not yet.

I recorded and watched that program as well. Before we had kids we went to supper clubs all the time. When the boys get older that is something I can't wait to resume doing.

Nothing like having a brandy old fashion while eating prime rib in a supper club. :woot:

Then you saw Dennis Schroeder of High Shores Supper Club on Lake Wissota. 1/2 mile from my house. Been there many times.
