Southern Indiana is where you want to move!
The winters are mild we have only had one real snowfall this winter so far, just yesterday it was almost 60°. If you buy the Indiana deer bundle licence you can take a buck & two does or three does. There are also counties like Gibson, Vanderburgh & others that with a Urban licence you can take an additional four deer with bow, only one being a buck. Lots of public land to hunt the biggest being Hoosier National Forest (202,000 acres) & almost every county has a smaller public hunting area.

There is one medium sized city close by (Evansville) that has lots of insurance co's. & quite a few IT businesses.
There are also a few resale shops & flea markets if you are into buying & selling things.
And since your wife is in risk management it should be easy to find the stats on living in southern Indiana as far as crime rate, taxes, & cost of living etc.
Gibson county area has a lot of nice houses for sale right now.
