I understand. All those activities (perhaps not at the level you might want) are pretty common around here as well during the summer (except for the climbing other than in select areas of the state). My main point was not every state in the Midwest is the same as far what it has to offer people. It sounds like you know exactly what you want...I hope you find it.
I am pretty darn happy with my little slice of heaven, it is deer hunting nirvana not numbers but quality. I tend to put down roots and stay, I plan on staying at my place till I pass I have a stainless rod in the ground at the exact spot I want my ashes dumped and an apple tree planted. Did a lot of work to make it what it is and I love it, no interest in ever leaving.
had a place in the country before and loved it , about 12 years ago we moved back to the ATL area and I am over it. I want to get back to the country while I can still enjoy it maybe get some goats and chickes maybe a cow or two, but mostly want my own place to hunt again and work the land again ..
Dude, move to Iowa, live in Southern Iowa if you want a more mild winter, if your not scared of snow, the Decorah Area is breathtaking. Lots of rolling hills and valleys. Notice all of the guys from Iowas hat saying live in Southern Minnesota, if your gonna do that you might as well live in Iowa. To me if your moving there your moving north of the Twin Cities. Deer and Turkey hunting here are great. Open season on coyotes year round if you predator hunt. Lots of good hunting all over the state, fantastic fishing the further north you go. That being said, good luck with whatever you choose and I hope everything works out for you.
As much as I like the idea of deer hunting in Iowa there is just not enough work there especially in the areas with the best hunting..
wife is in IT stuff and Insurance and Insurance risk management... I am semi retired and work from home.. FROM MY FIRST POST... "she is a insurance agent with multiple designations and has a double masters in risk management and cyber security..I am self employed and buy and sell things so I can go anywhere, might consider activating my real estate license again.."
If Iowa was a conservative state, I'd move there in a second....but alas, I've had enough of liberal states...
Most would consider Minnesota a liberal state but truth is the liberals are in the cities not in rural Minnesota. Something about "Light Pollution" makes them crazy.
Minnesota.. Second most liberal state. http://blogs.citypages.com/blotter/2014/10/minnesota_second-most_liberal_state_study_says.php So liberal, they don't even realize it.
More people in MN would consider themselves independant than either conservative or liberal. Bottom line...MN and IA are run better than the vast majority of states regardless of who is in office. Video: Best- and worst-run states My residence is in ND (#1 on the list) where I work but I still spend a lot of time in MN as well.
Thing about Utah, the rules about buying beer and booze and wine, I thought Minnesota had dumb laws about adult beverages Utah is worse.
