Well I figured since there are so many on here from all over the place. Maybe this is a bust but what the hell. Why not have a forum of where your going on vacation or visiting. Then others that have been there or are from the area can suggest things to do or see as well as what to avoid. For me this year, my wife and I are going to California in May for 6 days. We are gonna start in San Francisco then drive down to LA and on to San Diego. We don't really plan our trip but we have some sites we know we plan on seeing. But any advice on what to avoid or any hidden gems. Thanks for anything you might have for me.
Myself, my wife, and my two young daughters are headed to Mexico on Saturday. Isla Mujeres to be exact, it's traditionally a lot less touristy and the food there is phenomenal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If you make it to San Diego on a Friday you should go watch a Marine Corps boot camp graduation. Truly something special to see and makes you proud to be an American! They have gradations every other Friday. You can find the schedule online if you look it up.
That would be something to see. The Marine graduation. My second oldest boy goes to the Military Marine Academy here in Texas. He plans on graduating from there. Im so proud of him and hope he continues on with it.
Never saw it from the bleachers only from the parade deck but hope to make it back someday to see it from that perspective!
Next month I'm going to MO to the Lake of the Ozarks to do some spoonbill snagging from April 14-18. This is a guys trip with my neighbors. So Ill kinda be doing what ever they do but if anyone else gonna be out there, maybe Ill see ya there. Or at the OARHOUSE bar. If you know of that bar then you know where Ill be. Cant wait!!
Not sure which week your going but here is the schedule: Graduation Schedule | Marine Corps Community Services, MCRD San Diego
I am heading to Sussex, WI for a cousin's wedding in July. Staying a week afterwards for vacation. Recommendations would be great. I have been to Lambeau Field several years ago hut wpuld like to do it again now that I have a son. Packers are his second favorite team. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks for the link. Wouldn't you know it, I'm there during a non grad week. Now that I know maybe plan another trip with my boy so he can be there for it too.
Heading to Colorado in September for a 2 week elk hunt. Only vacation I'll be taking this year!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Headed to Florida too, going down to the family compound best part is nobody else will be there. Been going down for years now so all the tourist stuff is done. Going to get up and have coffee by the pool, go for walks and some kayaking might even go snorkeling.
Our next spot will be Vancouver, Canada. We have both went years ago when we worked for a company based in Everett, WA. We were not together then and went with different groups. It is beautiful there and the drive up is amazing! We went to the Grand Canyon in 2014 and that was an awesome trip as well.
This year in September we are taking a week long road tip around Lake Michigan. So far we only have a couple stops planned. There are some waterfalls in northern Michigan, spending a day on Mackinac Island, and probably taking a fishing charter on the lake (for perch-I don't care much for salmon)
I know for sure we will be in Loveland Colorado the week before the 4th of July for the Colorado Sparkler softball tournament.
We're going back to Nag's head and renting a big beach house with family. A far cry from exploring the Caribbean like we usually do, but we now have a little one so priorities change We will also spend a few days in Canada at my parent's cottage. One of these years when my wife gets more vacation, we're flying out to Denver, renting a car, and going. Everywhere from Montana, to Oregon, Cali, Utah, etc. Hitting as many places as we can.
Go to Muir woods just outside of S.F. , I hated LA but stop and see all the touristy stuff if that's what your into. San Diego has the zoo, Animal park lego land right down the road and a great beach.
