I am new to bowhunting and new to big game hunting in general. I've hunted for upland birds and waterfowl but that was a couple years back. At this point I have a bow, I try to shoot several times a week, and I plan on signing up for some lessons (any recommendations around Huntersville, NC?). Aside from working on my archery skills, what should I be doing at this point in the year to prepare for the 2015 archery whitetail season? Like I said I'm pretty new to hunting and don't have any friends or family who hunt so any help would be very helpful!
Not in the area where I live. My parents have some farm land down in North Florida that has deer on it. I'll probably head there once or twice to hunt this year. Nothing in my area though. I was planning to try and hunt public land as much as I could. Not sure if that's realistic in the Carolinas though. Is there a way to find good places other than driving around knocking on doors?
