Where is the Elk Camp thread ???? 6months to go before I'll be hunting Colorado again, this time I'm doing an extra week in South Dakota with iamyourhuckleberry, hunting Whitetail for the first time. Who's coming to Elk Camp this year ????
Damn straight Steve, I've shot my Longbow today for the first time in 3months, since my shoulder screwed up. Felt great to be shooting again, but I gotta build my archery muscles back up, I got tired after 6 shots.
Headed to Wyoming the 1st of September to blow the cow call for my buddy since I didn't draw a tag. It doesn't matter to me...as long as I get there!
Wrong camp there pops :D... they're referring to a bunch of guys that get together in Colorado to go elk hunting with with Will (the guy that came hog hunting a couple years ago). :D
Dave, I think about those dang Elk every day! Doing everything I can to make it back out there this Sept... Get that shoulder in shape - stay in touch!
Make it happen Matt, I'm saving my a$$ off, just in case I change my mind and decide to hunt Elk as well as Mule deer. I was gonna leave the Wapiti this year, ready for a full on assault in 2014 and I'm thinking the drive to South Dakota with Will is gonna burn a whole with fuel money and food cost, but you never know . If I can get My Mule Deer early in the week, I might pop in town to get a cow Elk tag ...... I'm leaving my options open for now.
I spoke with IamyourHuckleberry yester day and he said Elk camp will be September 15th to the 23rd. Going to be a great elk Season and can't wait to see everybody there. Remember its open to every one and the license are over the counter. If you have any questions let me know and if I can't answer them I'll get in touch with Will. Hope to see you there
I will be there! I finally applied for my deer tag today...I've been dreaming of elk so much I almost forgot about the deer tag. Looks like I'll have a handful of guys with me again this year and possibly one newbie. I can't wait!!!
Waid - it's going to be a long summer if you're already dreaming of Elk in March Is Story Tellin' Steve making the trip again?...wouldn't be a campfire without him. It's looking good that I'll get back out there - and my buddy Matt has been ready for round 2 since the day we left camp...I'm trying to talk him into a quieter generator though He also wants to try Mule deer with all that we saw last year - so guess we need to committ by April 3rd. Dave - don't forget to get your deer app submitted. Stay in touch guys...I don't care who tags one - but I'm craving some fresh elk on a open flame this year. Colby - have you ever hunted this GMU in CO?
Matt, I had a bull laugh at me last September and I can't get him out of my head. Yeah, Dirty Steve will be there again. You can't believe a word he says. Also, the other hammerhead (Brian), that was there last year, will be there again. He's a liar too. Some fresh elk would be awesome! I'm really looking forward to this trip!

Matt Looking forward to catching up with you again Matt, I just hope we have a more successful trip this time round and the Shoulder is doing fine . Don't you worry bout the Mule Deer tag, I've filled the forms and am waiting for a response on whether I've drawn or not Matt, I want that bruiser I saw last time out. Failing the Mule deer tag, I'm geared and ready to hunt down my Elk, I located a great spot last year and am very hopeful on the outcome . Dang You Guys Sounds like your all going to tag out the mulies I'm after for next year,maybe I should cancel huh! I'll be there for 2013 with Will and 2 other Albertans are coming also. Were going a little earlier though for the end of Antelope and then opening day for Elk and mulie's which is September 1st I believe. We had to put in for priorty points though for the Elk. Then a few weeks later Will comes up here for Bull Moose. Would have been neat to meet up with the group next year. Oh well, best of luck to you all this year, that make the trip. Rocky
